How Long to Get Pregnant after Pill?

Anonymous
I am trying to get pregnant after using the pill. I was on the pill for 7 years and am only 27 years old. Luckily my cycle started right back up, but after trying two months there is still no baby on the way. I know it is normal to take a few months, but I just wanted to see how long it took everyone else after the pill.
Thanks Ladies.

I was on the pill for 18 years, and got pregnant 2 months after stopping taking it. Was lucky as am already 37.

I was pretty much on the pill as long as you, went off in May and got pregnant in September.

I have been on the pill for 5 years, off and on. I got pregnant six weeks after going off of it. I'm also in my 20's.

I think it usually takes at least a couple of months. I think everyone's story will be different. Was on the pill for 8 years. Went off when I was 27 and it took me over 4 years to get pregnant including infertility treatments. Obviously the pill really wasn't my issue. I thought I would get pregnant within 6 months then within a year, etc., etc. If it doesn't happen within the next six months don't feel that you are too young to have a conversation with your doctor. Good luck and I hope it happens for you very soon.

I am 29. Was on the pill for 10 years. Got pregnant in three months and only have one ovary. We used the digital ovulation predictor to help us out. Good luck!

I went off the pill last January, didn't have a regular cycle until May and got pregnant in June. Good luck! Try eating whole milk products - that supposedly helps.

Hi, I am 29, was on the pill for about 7 years and got pregnant after one month. I think it's totally different for everyone. But I also think it's a myth that it will necessarily take you a longer just because you've been on the pill. Good luck!

You are supposed to wait 6 weeks until you try to get pg after getting off the pill. After that...you will find it will take anywhere from 1 month to never to get pregnant. It all depends on you and hub.

I got off the pill in March and didn't "try" to get pregnant until July, when I did, the 1st time and I had been on the pill for 8 years and was 37 years old.

I was on the pill forever. I stopped taking it and was pregnant within the month. I never got a period. Be sure to be taking prenatal vitamins. Best of luck!

They used to want women to wait 3 months after going off the pill to start TTC because the pill dosage was much higher in the 60s and 70s, and it was linked to miscarriages. Now most pills are out of your system within the month, so that's why it's ok. It may just take you some time after going off because that's how long it normally takes!

To better pinpoint your ovulation you can use ovulation predictor kits (OPKs) and/or chart your temp. "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" is a very good book to read while you are TTC, highly recommend it. It's completely normal for the process to take some time. Good luck!

OP here. Thanks everyone for you input. I love hearing that it might not take forever after being on the pill for so long.

WebMD ovulation calendar works for those who are very regular. I was off the pill for one month and surprisingly got pregnant . You can read online changes in your body and checking if your cervix is open or closed. I'd just not think about it too much, maybe do the calendar and have fun!
