| The merchant sent me a nasty email and has left voicemails. Should I report it to someone or just Save them in case it escalates? |
| Why are you disputing the charge? |
| Save them AND report. |
| Save them. Post an online review! |
+1 more info is needed, OP. |
OP here. The merchant charged me tax on a fee. It seemed fishy so I looked it up and this is illegal in that state for that type of vendor and that type of fee. I contacted the merchant to let them know and request modification of the charge and also a receipt. They wouldn't respond to emails so I contested it thru visa. |
Have you told Visa that the merchant is contacting you? I would block their number and email. All communication should be going through Visa. You can also provide everything to that state's BBB. |
| Also zap them on yelp. |
| Id save them and ignore them. |
| Did you contest the entire charge or just the tax amount? |
| Tell the credit card company they are doing this. It is a clear violation of the merchant agreement. |
This is the kind of thing that my aunt, who is a consumer advocate, absolutely HATES. It's illegal and when he does this enough times, it's a bonanza for him. He keeps this money. A dollar from you, a dollar from everyone -- wow. I would send him a cease and desist letter. |
Tell visa - not the CC company. They don't own the merchant agreement. |
| also contact your local consumer protection agency |
| I think you should tell us who the merchant is so we can avoid doing business with them. |
