Like many during the 1960s and early 1970s, I was idealistic.

Kathryn and I had raised two children, pursued busy careers and built a lifestyle that was not nurturing us. So we reduced the complexity of our lives in Boston and ultimately moved to Mallorca, Spain, in 2011.

Hippie turned Yuppie bought a house in the most uptight, most expensive, Boston Brahmin neighborhood, dad even joined the local business council, and were surprised that they somehow couldn't hack it in the neighborhood where the Lowells speak only to Cabots, And the Cabots speak only to God.

Eh. Idk. My DH speaks 5 languages and tested in the native level fluency for 1 on the FSI test, and just below that on the rest. He had not been out of the country at all prior to our honeymoon. If you truly invest the time and have the passion you’d be surprised at how much you can learn. I think if she had spent a full summer in Spain she would have said so at this point.

You can learn a language anywhere, but she speaks with a Spanish accent, but moreover in the style of a Spanish woman. It's a specific way of speaking, not just the accent, that she is doing. Intonation, word choice, pauses... she has it down. That would be hard to learn unless you're watching a lot of Spanish TV or around Spanish people.

LOL her Spanish is basic at best, the fact you think she is even close to a native speaker is laughable.

Not true, I am spanish and agree with PP. You are probably an american who learned a little bit of spanish in high school judging her skill. She has been compared with Gwyneth Paltrow. Well, she has been an exchange student for a year in Spain, she can speak spanish and i could tell she's not native with just a few sentences because of her accent.

She might be a liar but she's good with spanish. Her accent, her expressions are all spanish from Spain... Maybe she had a spanish nanny when she was young, she might be the family she visits in Murcia...

You should go look at Reddit where Spaniards actually break down what she says and what’s wrong with it i.e. not “Spain” Spanish and a basic command, no tense usage, etc. But then grifters gonna grift. Comparing her to GP is laughable. I’ve never heard Hillary converse en Espanol for more than a few minutes and a few sentences at a time. Goop gives hours long interviews in perfect Spanish. Not even close. 😂.

Well, I am also a Spaniard and I don't need to break anything down to say that I could believe that she's actually spanish by what I've heard in the few interviews she's done in spanish. Her answers are quite simple and short but she has a really good accent and uses spanish from Spain. Her answers are right even if not very sophisticated. She mispronounced the word "pelicula" and corrected herself... I could mispronounce a word in my native language, specially if i am nervous.

Once you know she's not spanish you can analyze how she uses simple tense all the time or that she mispronounce this word like it is a difficuld one for an english-speaker, but I didn't doubt she was spanish before all this came up. I am not saying she's not lying, she obviously is, just that she seems to know the language.

As for Gwyneth, she speaks very good spanish but she has an accent, and also she makes minor errors that tell she's not native (incorrect verb tenses, wrong preposition, wrong gender or just weird constructions). I think Hilaria can probably speak spanish like her but just avoid it because it is easy to commit some mistake that gives her away.

Por cierto, si hay alguien que duda de que soy española os podría contar la misma historia en español pero probablemente nadie me iba a entender...

Well, it is a lockdown in winter, during a pandemic, people have been home for 9 months or so, it’s the holidays so not much going on at work...

There’s also that part about fake news. She has built an entire celebrity image and persona based on lies. She’s like the late night informercial version of a rich Spanish yoga celebrity mommy. Her whole shtick about being exotic and better than everyone else was really a card house of lies. It’s satisfying for people to see her fall for trying to make everyone feel inadequate, while really, she was covering for being like everyone else.

Is anyone sleuthing out more info onto the crazy Canadian lady and Hilaria and Alec running her out of town? It seemed like we were on the case a dozen or so pages back but I haven't heard anything more and TBH I didn't quite have a grasp on the details.

Yeah, but at the end of the day, she’ll still be rich and famous. And folks here will be talking about whether next year’s pay raise for federal employees will be 1.5 percent or 2.25 percent.

I don't know, but I followed her on Instagram but then got scared and unfollowed her. One day when I was looking at Alec's feed, she was posting the same thing over and over again, telling the story about how they falsely accused her, etc...and tagging him. At times it was once every 1-2 minutes.

I mean I assume she has access to the internet to watch Spanish TV or YouTube videos. If she spent significant amounts of time in Spain she would have specifically said so rather than letting herself get crucified for being a fake.

PP. Also when I took Spanish from middle school to junior year of college all of my teaches were Spanish except one in college who was from South America. Hilary might not need to watch as much tv as you think.
