Who is telling the truth - Pelosi or the CIA?

So who is telling the truth about the CIA briefing Pelosi received in Septmeber of 2002 about enhanced interrogation techniques and waterboarding?

Pelosi. CIA has a known history of this. Used to piss off Goldwater in the 60s.

I have no idea.

At a minimum, I'm willing to believe that Pelosi wasn't paying enough attention as in the train scheduler in the film Shoah who wasn't paying attention to the full trains going to Auschwitz that were coming back empty.

I'd really prefer finding out the CIA lied to her but the reality is that lots of people in power were looking the other way when it counted and it wouldn't surprise me if she didn't look too hard at this at the time.

Truth in government?

But if waterboarding and other interrogation techniques are classified activities, only a whistleblower willing to put everything on the line a la Daniel Ellsberg could have made anything public, no? What could Pelosi, Graham, anyone in Congress who knew, have done, except perhaps sacrifice a staffer who leaked?

Truth in government?

Let's keep asking for it. If we stop, we've let the dark forces win.

I'm sure they told her, but she couldn't hear them from the sound of her eyes rapidly blinking.

Despite coming from a family of life long Democrats, I have to say that Pelosi's press conference was painful to watch. She has also changed her story. It must have been the pressure of this self-created controvesy that caused her to lash out at the CIA. She is guilty of politcizing national security and is therefore not fit to be the speaker. If she remains the speaker she will be the Republican poster child for the mid-term election.

My theory is that Pelosi and Cheney have a kind of suicide pact going. As long as each does equal damage to his/her own party, they can indulge themselves to their hearts' content.

This issue is such small potatoes. If she was unaware, or "did not tell the truth", who did she harm? These are scum in these prisons. I hope we are doing much more than water boarding. Since when did the politicians (especially republicans) even care. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Go after your own people for getting us in a war over lies. We have had 2 Republican administrations and where did it get us? Let's all play fair in the sandbox.

Let's go after the female and the black guy when you're not getting your way. Conservative "values". Yea, that is what we should focus on. Let's eat our own.

Everyone who works at the CIA must take and pass a lie detector test on a regular basis. Congress has exempted themselves and their staff from such a requirement. Even Leon Panettta says she is wrong. Perhaps she isn't lying, maybe it is just early onset alzheimers.

Panetta, to be more precise, says that CIA documents say she is wrong, then he says it is up to Congress to evaluate those documents.

Also, the CIA lie detector tests only prove that the CIA wants to know about their agents' lies, not that they do not allow agents to lie. I can't imagine that it is Agency policy tell the truth to the enemy. The question is: Congress, friend or foe?
