Cornell Frat President Arrested

Anonymous
What is this sense of entitlement, this sense of self-appeasement that causes men to rape women on campuses? Unless proven otherwise, this young man with such a promising future has tossed it away just like the young man at St. Paul's prep school. Harvard showed no mercy and rescinded its acceptance.

It will have to be proven that the victim was intoxicated.

"The victim refused, telling Ballinger that she was "not interested" and "too intoxicated," the court documents say"

Slightly off topic, but apparently his major was Hotel Administration.

Who goes to an Ivy for Hotel Administration?

It's not a very well known part of Cornell, but those people are usually very successful in whatever it is that they do. Business / hospitality management or something.
Plus, they were the best looking people on campus.

It's a business degree. One a relative of mine obtained and now runs a highly successful hedge fund and makes way more money than I will ever earn in my lifetime. And those who want to focus on the hotel administration part are in high demand in the international hotel sector.

But yeah the rape culture/out-of-control drinking/male privilege are still alive and well at way too many fraternities, which is disturbing. And Cornell has a lot of frats, some of which got banned from campus when I was there (many years ago) for similar issues.

You obviously know nothing about Cornell. That's something it's well-known for.

Um, what? If she refused, she can give any reason she likes. It doesn't have to be "proven" that she was intoxicated.

Very sad if it's true. Very sad if it's not.

I'm surprised that it was this fraternity. In the past they were smart, successful, nice guys. Not a sleazy sports fraternity at all.

This is an awful situation but I'm glad that the University and police took this as seriously as they did. Interestingly, he is still in jail with bail set at $25k which I'm guessing his (reportedly) pretty rich parents could easily afford but they are apparently letting him sit there.

The swift reaction of the police and the school along with the parents not bailing him out make me think there is a pretty airtight case against this guy.

I believe he is still innocent until proven guilty. Many women have made false rape allegations.

What difference does it make? Humanities people go to MIT.

Um, what. The defense is going after the intoxication assertion. Count on it.
