| Do you have trouble dressing your daughter?? I have a 6 year old daughter and she's descended into a world where the only things she'll wear are leggings and tops. I'd be fine with that, but for the tops ride up and the legging get holes after one use. She refuses to wear regular pants because they're uncomfortable. Is anyone else having these issues?? |
|
1. Better quality leggings. They should be thicker than tights and last longer. 2. Are you choosing comfortable pants, like a soft corduroy? Nothing rigid, like jeans. 3. Offer her a choice between outfit A and outfit B. You're the parent and need to regain control of the situation. |
| My daughter also prefers to wear leggings and tops or dresses. I get longer tunic tops for her to wear with leggings usually so the riding up isn't an issue. Most of her clothes are still from Carter and Oshkosh even though she is six. |

There are some jeggings that are almost the same material as leggings, just a little thicker. I've gotten them from Target and Carter's in the past. Children's Place has them too, but those have not fit my DD as well.
My rule with leggings is that they are for wearing under dresses and skirts - they are not worn with just a regular top. |

My daughter is 12, but her Leggings Phase came right after her Yoga Pants Phase, and now she's in her Skinny Jeans Phase. She only wears one type of pants at a time.
So yes. It's normal to only want to wear one type of pants. |
| Agree with others to buy better quality leggings and longer tops and/or casual dresses. Pick your battles! |
| Same, my 5 and 8 year old strictly wear leggings and tops. They have jeans and corduroys but they can't properly climb and hang upside in them (so they tell me...) |
| I only liked leggings at that age too. Jeans were really uncomfortable. I agree with those that say to find thicker leggings and longer tops. |
| Same here. She only wears leggings with longer tops. Sometimes they don't match at all but I'm picking my battles. They haven't gotten any holes but she has lots from Children's Place and Marshalls. The Marshalls ones are Justice but she doesn't care about names yet. She likes the patterns and how they are soft. |
| I only wear leggings. I'm 40. |

| OP, get better leggings. And why does it matter if the tops ride up? |
Not the OP but at our FCPS school, exposed midriffs are forbidden. My kids were taught to raise their arms to make sure the shirts don't rise above the waistline. If OP's DD's tops are riding up, it sounds like they're not long enough to begin with. And, I second the suggestion to get leggins/pants from Target/Old Navy. My DD go the occasional hole but a quick stitch was sufficient to get a lot more uses out of them. |
If your FCPS school's dress code includes "some skin showed when you raised your arms above your head" under "exposed midriff", that's a problem with your FCPS school's dress code. |
