Trouble Dressing Daughter?

Anonymous
Get better-quality leggings and longer tops. Maybe a few long tanks that she can wear under shorter shirts, too.

My 6 yr old daughter has never worn real pants. And has dressed her self since she was 3. I've learned to ONLY buy things I'm ok with her wearing. Too small stuff needs to be taken out of the drawer ASAP. Seasonal stuff has to be stored elsewhere - if it's in her closet or drawers it's fair game.

Mine both went through that phase. Then, they became tomboys. My younger DD will only wear tees and running shorts or jogging pants when out of her school uniform.

Buy jeans, don't buy leggings, prepare for a week long fit, and then it will be over with.

What would be the purpose of this?

Not having a kid go through multiple pairs of leggings weekly? Reminding said kid that she isn't the parent?

Ah yes. Power. I am the parent, and I can make you wear clothes you hate.

Hanna Andersson makes ribbed velour skinny pants and they are, by far, my 6 yr old's FAVORITE pants. Way more durable than regular leggings and warmer, too. They are slightly stretchy and she has no problems playing on the playground. They have also taken quite a bit of abuse (paint, falls, mud) and still look great. http://m.hannaandersson.com/pdp.aspx?from=SC&pcid=293&styleid=41976&simg=41976_45H

Her other favorite pants are the yoga pants from Lands End.

They are actual people, you know, with preferences.

I'm an actual adult, too, who earns the money to buy said clothes that she's busy ruining. Jeans are for playing, dresses are for church. If they play on the playground: jeans, shorts, cords. Leggings and tights tear too easily.

Why force jeans on a kid? Lots of kids hate jeans. I hate jeans. My mother hated them and never dressed me in them growing up. Bad advice from overbearing PP.

Isn't it funny? Kid is 7 without an ounce of fat on her and she feels like anything but leggings are too restrictive! I say just wait til she's 40 and had three kids trying to find comfy jeans or pants! No wonder we all love yoga pants. And of course, if leggings are her preference, then that is what we buy. Life is too short!

If you have money to waste on that nonsense, help yourself. We get jeans at the thrift stores, that's what the kids wear.

Because they don't sell leggings at the thrift store?

Really hate the word "tomboy" why can't they just be girls who like wear XXX.

Our girl loves dresses but in winter we want her warmer because she loves vein outside. Children's Place jeans, Osh Kosh cords and running pants from the "boy" side of the store paired with a top she likes.

Maybe take her to the store to try on clothes?
