address not within school bounds

Two kids in DC's class have an address in the PTA directory that are not in the school bounds. Why would this be? Thanks!

They have COSAs. They live in Nunya. Nunya Bizness.

Is the address in the county but zoned for a different school, or out of the county all together? If the OOB address is listed in the directory, I guarantee you it's for a legit reason.

If they put their addresses in the directory, it's safe to say they are in the school legally, either through a COSA or their parent works at the school or something. The liars are the ones who list a local address they don't actually live at, or don't list any address at all.

COSA, parent works at school, or they moved and principal is being nice and letting them stay. If your are at a "good" school there are also likely people using others addresses.

You should drive to their house and stand outside and yell at them.

All of those reasons would require a COSA. If you move within the county, you can easily get a COSA to stay at the old school for the rest of the year, but you still have to have the COSA. Parents also can't just have their own out of bounds children attend the school where they work. They also need a COSA and "my mom works here" isn't a legit reason, in the eyes of the deciders.

The families I know who are in that situation have a family member being treated at Walter Reed medical center, and our school is within bounds for that; or they were allowed to switch school for a specific academic reason; or they come because our school is inclusive and welcomes special needs students who cannot be accommodated at the neighboring schools.

We have three kids in my DC's class who live OOB but use a local address so their kids can attend the school. The kids who have actually received a COSA (another 2 that we know) go ahead and put their actual address in the directory.

But there are families who value privacy and don't put their in zone address in the directories. We are one of those. You cannot assume no address means liars that's ridiculous, frankly.

I was the first person to say that people lying may just not put any address in the directory. But no, of course I did not mean that everyone with a blank address in the directory is lying and living out of bounds.

They may need to be at the school to access special needs services unavailable at the home school or they may have special needs siblings at the school.

Just be grateful yours is only 2. We have 21 COSA's in our overcrowded school. We have 7 portables so not sure how they allow it - but every year they do.
