I lost almost 10 pounds during the blizzard and everyone tells me I look awful

I lost almost 10 pounds during the blizzard (and the week leading up to the blizzard). It was a combination of extreme stress (not blizzard related--when I am stressed my appetite disappears), only drinking water during the blizzard (I forgot to get my usual juice--I'm a huge juice drinker--lemonade, grape, etc.), eating no treats during the blizzard (forgot to get treats), and generally not eating much during the blizzard.

I used to weigh 146 and now I weigh 137. I'm 5'5''. Anyhow, as a result of this weight loss, people keep telling me that I look exhausted, haggard, too thin, and old. It's true, I lost a lot of weight in my face and I do think I look older and more haggard (wrinkle lines are more apparent now, underneath my eyes looks more hollow). However, my lower body looks a lot better. All of my clothes are hanging off me as a result of this weight loss. I'm 40.

Should I gain some or all of it back? I wasn't trying to lose the weight, it just happened.

Losing 10 pounds over the course of a week or two is not healthy.

I'm trying not to roll my eyes at you op. Do what makes you feel better. Ignore the negative comments about your appearance. They are probably from "haters" anyways. If you're unhappy with the weight loss then try to gain a few pounds back, if you are happy with it then ignore the negativity. But you don't need anonymous strangers to tell you that. I'm sure you look great.

Maybe focus on reducing your stress and eating some healthier foods (not going back to juice/treats)? Maybe your face was extra tight/wrinkly if you were stressed?

I'd focus on health/balance first and then worry about weight.

21:35 again, meant to say that the stress, not the weight loss, is probably what they are seeing in a negative light. Get through that and everyone will be complimenting your appearance. Hope you start feeling relief from the stress soon. I know how much that sucks.

I'm the first 21:35, btw. Somebody posted at the same time as me.

Try drinking water. Losing 10 pounds in a week indicates you are dehydrated. Wrestlers use this trick all the time to make weight.

+1

OP, whether you go back to juice and sweets or stick with water and starvation, handle your stress. Do you need more time to exercise, devote to a hobby, volunteer or give back? How can you love yourself better?

OP, I think you need to ask yourself why you did that over the blizzard. There was so much notice you didn't "forget" to buy food - you chose not to. What is going on with you? You may need to talk to someone. Eating disorders are no fun and can destroy your health - I know this from personal experience.

No, don't gain it back, maybe even lose another 10 and then get Botox.

If you stop drinking water completely, you can lose 140 more pounds.

This is a seriously awful post. OP might have a real medical issue with food -- "jokes" like these don't help.

9 pounds, and five of that could be water weight.

Deal with the stress & try to eat right.

How should we know unless you post a picture. I am 5'7" and 120 lbs and definitely do not look too thin. Weight distribution varies from person to person. Stay at a weight that is in the healthy BMI range and that you are happy with.
