| I'm looking into places to stay that are in the northern part of the states, not too expensive, and fun for young kids and families. How do I find something like this, where I don't own a house but could literally stay the whole summer? |
| Budget? |
Maybe the equivalent of rent? 1k-2k a month? |
| Cape Cod. |
| Lake Michigan |
The high end of her budget would only last a week on the cape in July and August. |

Charlevoix area of Michigan - rent a house.
Either on Lake Michigan or Torch Lake |

Sorry, op, but I can't think of any place in New England where you could rent for 1-2k a month that would be worth going to with a small child.

You might like a bungalow community. I love this one on Schroon Lake in upstate New York.

| Maine. If you decide early enough look into local pre-school maybe even church based summer day camp programs. They'll be low cost - an easy safe break for you and a way to make connections! |
| Rent an RV. Don't know what they go for, but you could see a lot of places without unpacking everywhere. |
My parents have a summer cottage In a no name town on the cape a mile from the ocean and they get anywhere between 1-1.5K a week |
| Madison, WI |
| Little Compton, RI. Hidden gem. But get on it, its late to rent a house for the whole summer. |
| Another vote for northern MI. Near Charlevoix/elk Rapids. Torch lake an inland lake is beautiful too |
