WTF am i supposed to do? Just walk out? Bosses are leaving staff while they beat the storm and drive to their second home. If gov't is telling ALL employees to go home at 12, don't we think it's for good reason? I truly cannot fathom how inconsiderate employers are.
I'm stuck in a really bad place because I'm being told I am irresponsible for going in. What to do!? |
| Just. Leave. You can't be made to stay. |
| Call in sick |
| How can I just leave without being fired? |
|
Your wife is a dick. So is your boss.
The difference is your wife should understand you are in a tough spot. And f your boss is leaving early then just leave ten minutes after the does. Problem solved. |
| At noon come down with food a stomach bug and you need to leave. |
| If you feel like you are putting yourself in danger just leave. I did that 5 years ago and everyone laughed at me. The same people who laughed were stuck on the road all night. I seriously doubt they can fire you. |
Email: Hi Larla and Larlo. This email is to inform you that I will be leaving promptly at noon today due to the State of Emergency declared in Washington DC/Maryland/Virginia. Thank you for understanding and for your concern about employee and client safety. |
| Have your spouse call and say there is an emergency at home. Yell, "Oh, My G-D! I'll be right there." And leave. On you way out, tell coworkers "I'll explain later." |
I think this is much more likely to get you fired. For deception and lying. |
|
Take it to the media. Post on local news websites if your employer puts up a stink. Especially if they put your job at risk - call that jerk of a buss/business out publicly.
Only serious emergency personnel should be out once the storm hits. |
and kiss your career goodbye. |

OP I think you better use the email a PP wrote above. See the latest:
http://wtop.com/winter/2016/01/region-prepares-massive-snowstorm/slide/1/ Snow will fall earlier than thought: "Storm Team 4 meteorologist Lauryn Ricketts says the timeline has changed: Snow will begin between 10 a.m. and noon in areas to the south of Interstate 66, and between noon and 3 p.m. in areas to the north of the highway. The snow began in the predawn hours in southwestern Virginia; as of 7:30 a.m., snow had begun to fall in Lynchburg." |

OP I am working today until 6pm, then working tomorrow and Sunday from 6am til 6pm both days.
My employer is putting me up in a hotel so I dont have to drive but i still wont see my wife and 3yo for 3 days, all thanks to the blizzard. Suck it up. |
| I am truly disgusted and sick to my stomach right now. They won't let me leave. I already asked. |
