I got my husband an electric snowblower for Christmas

And he was so disappointed. He thought (and wanted) it was a Mac inside the big box under the tree and was clearly disappointed. We even joked and after the fact named the snowblower "Mac."

Well, I think he will be very glad with his x-mas gift this weekend

Don't worry, that was almost me, too. Right before I bought it, I decided to asked DH about it rather than making it a surprise. He said he wasn't interested. Oh well.

Make sure he doesn't wait until there's a foot of snow. Electric has the advantages of reliability and not having to deal with the hassles and maintenance of a gasoline engine, but they're not the most powerful. However, if you only have a small driveway, it should be perfect.

I will tell him. Our driveway is small (1 1/2 cars length) and a small sidewalk as well.

Thanks for the tip

Totally understand your DH's disappointment.

I bet you would also be disappointed if you got e.g. a cookware set for Christmas.

What an exciting and fulfilling relationship you must have.

Put an apple sticker on it.

Haha. My husband bought me a snowblower for Christmas and we all joked that he was ensuring it wouldn't snow for a decade.

Lol I gave myself a cookware set a few Christmas back. Once I also gave myself a kitchen aid mixer... My husband and I have everything (or almost) that we want/need. It is hard to gift each other and most of the time we give ourselves something practical that we were going to buy anyway just to have something to open. It is hard to gift another adult.

I'm not opposed to the Mac, but not in our budget this past year.

You needed a snow blower for this?

Me too! But we only lost power once in all those years.... Really hoping it keeps this way!

That was us. We got a snowblower this year. our comments were "It's going to be a great insurance policy for the winter!" We were really hoping he'd never have to use it.

For about 2 months, I was sure it was indeed an effective "no winter here" insurance policy.

Just make sure you (or DH) gives it a test tonight or tomorrow - that it starts properly, etc. (we tested ours already.)

No. But I wanted one.

Make sure he does not blow the snow onto others driveways. Our neighbors got a snowblower last year and after I spent hours shoveling, I came out to find them covering my car with snow. I assume they were not paying attention, but I fear the worst for this year.
