Trader Joe's milk going bad early

Anonymous
Has anyone else noticed this? We usually go through a gallon in 3-4 days but on the rare weeks that it takes us longer than that, their milk is usually bad by day 6 at the latest. I just had to throw out a gallon I purchased 5 days ago that supposedly expires in a week but is already rancid.

I cannot stand Trader Joes and honestly don't know why people shop there. We try to eat healthy, and it's basically a mecca of packaged junk food.

Most of their dairy and cold produce items go bad quickly. They leave them out of refrigeration for way too long. That's the trade-off you get when customer service is priority #1: product management is second on the list.

We shop there for the $$$. When we switched from Safeway we started saving $40/wk.

Same with their bread. I try and avoid buying bread at trader joes unless we will go through it in 2-3 days

We keep the bread in the freezer and take slices out as needed. They thaw quickly.

I shop almost exclusively at trader joes and only have a problem with a product once a year at most. Same odds as shopping at other stores. Am I just lucky?

Some savings if the milk and bread spoil so quickly

I will not buy produce, dairy or baked items there unless I will use them that day. They are probably violating a lot of Heath codes with improper temperatures.

Their freezers are fine !

I agree. I will no longer buy milk there. It starts tasting funny within just a few days of buying it! I've also had multiple products (pizza crust and bread) get moldy extremely quickly. It is gross. I'll only buy frozen stuff there.

Muffins were covered in mold the day after I purchased

I don't buy anything perishable at TJs. Their stocking prcedures are atrocious.

Yes, I don't buy milk there anymore. They must leave it out for a long time at some point.

Are you kidding?! They actually use less artificial ingredients than most! And all of their dairy is hormone free. I have never had a problem with the milk. But I buy organic.

And about bread spoiling quickly: it's because they use fewer preservatives! Have you ever made your own bread? It molds very quickly.

I won't buy milk there either. Giant all the way
