Baby registry only has expensive things on it

Anonymous
I was invited to a baby shower for an inlaw. Normally I buy something off the registry since I know that is what people like. In this case, there are only big ticket items (stroller, swing, car seat, etc) and then really expenisve smaller things (footed pajamas for $60, pack of 3 onesies for $45). I want to spend around $50-60 and it seems like so little to give a 3 pack of onesies.

What do you think about me making a basket with some of the things we used a lot (nose Frieda, Aden & Anais blankets, nail trimmer, a couple board books, etc). Ok or just stick to the registry?

A basket sounds nice. I also think it's fine to get lower priced clothing from another store. Just supply a gift receipt so they can exchange if they want.

Fine in that case. I usually tell people to sick to the registry but that depends on someone making a reasonable registry. Yup not have a variety of price points is really rude I think

Geez, the gift grabbing gets more and more disgusting.

I'd wrap up a copy of "Goodnight Moon" (paperback version) and be done with it.

I posted yesterday about finding out that I was only invited to the "C List" shower. I checked out the registry and all the gifts are above $50. Most are around $100. And there is a $400 breast pump. We are on our way to Target now to buy a more budget friendly gift.

45 for onesies. Damn women. You know they end up spit up and shit stained no matter the price.

I didn't see your post, but if you know you're C list, why go? I'd just get a little gift when the baby is born.

I usually equally gift "go th f*ck to sleep" for people I love, and people I loathe. The ones I love get it, the ones I loathe are so offended that my message comes in loud and clear

A selection of board books or a gift card to the registry store they selected at the price point you want. People are so stupid and greedy sometimes -- they probably won't get much from the registry if it's so off-putting.

I would do a whole bunch of board books with a gift receipt. Pick the ones that are a little less popular, no Goodnight Moon for example, so they're less likely to be duplicates.

I RSVP'd before learning that it was the third shower and all the other family went to a different one. This one will be me and a bunch of random people she must think have money to burn.

I know! There is also a 7 pack that is $145 or something.

I usually am more of a 40% off at Baby Gap kind of buyer. And I put my little babies in a lot of Carters because it is cute and cheap. I think I might have spent $50 or so for their coming home outfits but beyond that, I didn't spend a ton. They grow so quickly at that age!

I'd get hera $5.00 gift card. I cannot tolerate gift whores. Better still, find someone to go in with you for $5.00 gift card

I would not even go, but if you are compelled, stick what you would have spent in an envelope ($60) with a photo of the big ticket item on her registry and write this is to put towards your 1,200.oo stroller or whatever......

Flu and norovirus come on super quick, despite RSVPs, you know
