Over 17K in grocery store expenses. Holy shit. I guess this includes diapers and some such, but still!
A bit over 1K in take out. More than gas. Just something to think about, I guess. |
Or, depending on your overall budget, possibly something to do something about! I'm going to check mine out. |
| Ouch. Just looked at ours. We had $12k at Grocery but $25k at restaurants. |
| We have about $10k for groceries and $600 for eating out. |
| Mine is even more. We live 2 blocks from Whole Foods. I live there. |

Start cooking your own food, people.
Your kids need to see how to do that. |
Clip coupons/use grocery store apps. I saved over $30 yesterday at Safeway between their app and paper coupons. The original order was under $100. Safeway is running milk at a discount for the entire month, and anyone with kids can realize that can save a dollar or two easily. |
Aside from toiletries and eggs, I noticed coupons were always for things that are really unhealthy. Cookies, other junk food. |
|
supermarkets- $5700
restaurants - $930 education (i.e. daycare) - $20500 |
Let's see, I see everything from butter to pasta to meatballs. Sometimes, I see condiment coupons. That is just paper coupons. At least with Safeway, if you buy enough of something often, you will get a discount most people do not get. The digital coupons are updated every Wednesday, and sometimes, they do not expire for a month or two. |

Ugh mine is depressing. 9k on groceries and 4k at Costco.
Shame!!! |
+1. Please show your child how to cook. My SD is 18. She recently moved in with us. I assumed she could handle the basics in the kitchen. And then the texts started coming... When will you be home? What's for dinner? And it dawned on me, she had no idea how to make herself a basic meal. I have taught her how to boil water for pasta, broil chicken, grill a steak and steam vegetables. |
25k at restaurants!? Where the hell were you eating? |
| Family of 4 - we easily spend 12-15k on groceries / yr. frustrating, but it's hard to cut down. |
We spend on average 15-18K on groceries (and this doesn't include snacks/foods I pick up at Target). I'm not frustrated by it though - I'm feeding my family and doing it well. We probably do eat out too much though but I"m ok with that too. It's family time and something we look forward to starting on Thursdays. |
