| Looking for an indoor activity for my 3 1/2 year old son. Any thoughts on bowling? I called Bowl America in Falls Church and they have bumper bowling. they have bowling balls as light as 6 pounds. Is this something you think a 3 1/2 year-old would be able to do or is he too young? Thanks! |

Absolutely! My 4yo DS has been bowling several times in the last year.
FWIW, he uses the ramp to send the ball down the lane, but we don't like to use bumpers. |
| My 3yo can do the duckpin bowling easily, with the bumpers up. |
| Do they have the ramps to push the balls down? 6 lbs is pretty heavy for a 3.5 year old. |
| Took my not yet 3yo and was pretty dubious but it was for his older cousins birthday. He had a blast, they had lighter balls (we still had to help), bumpers and the frames they can roll the ball down. In reality we were doing most of the work but he thought it was all him. |
| We just took our 5 year old bowling and she struggled with the 6 pound ball a bit. I think duckpin might be a better option if you can find it. |
What's the ball weigh? |
+1! The kids love it. |
| Where is there duckpin bowling? I grew up with that, but haven't seen it down here. |
| we take our kids bowling once a month. They are 3.5 and 5.5. They use the ramp and bumpers. It's good fun. |
| Well somewhere between 4 and 7? My 7 yo gets it and loves it. 4 yo doesn't have the strength or attention span. |
| There's duckpin bowling in Silver Spring - White Oak Lanes. |
Yes, your 3 your old will love it. |
| Ask them if they have ramps. The places we bowl have ramps. If they can stand on their own and push the ball down the ramp, they are good to go. My 3.5 year old has loved this for the past year. |

My just-turned 3 year old loves it. She insists on carrying the ball herself most of the time and she uses the ramps and bumpers. We also went a lot with my son when he was 3 (now 6).
I don't know where in the Falls Church area you are, but the bowling alleys on the military bases are great deals and you don't have to be military to use them (we're not). The one at Ft. Meyers is "classic" (old-ish) with ramps and bumpers. The one at Ft. Hunt has been updated and is kind of nice is a cheesy bowling alley way. Also has ramps and bumpers. Anyway, we go a lot in the winter just to get out of the house. |
