I never said it was superior. It depends on the teacher. We had some pretty crappy years in person with bad teachers. We have flexible kids who are fine in either setting. We also are very involved and support them. You should try being an involved parent. I said it was safer. We will return in person when MCPS can come up with a clear plan to keep kids safe. Clearly parents here aren't willing so if they don't, who will. Its not going to work well and your attitude is to pretend everything is fine and who cares about the spread or if anyone gets sick as long as your needs are met. I feel bad for your kids given how little you care. Many people have virtual jobs. Nothing special about being in an office with a 1-2 hours commute. But, wait, if you were home working, you might have to see your kids every once in a while. Really, given what type of person you are, we get why they need to be out of the house as much as possible. |
Nope, but keep telling yourself that. |
I'm sorry you're so pathetically immature. You sound like a 7th grade girl. Don't let your kid die of COVID! |
And at least 45 districts have already closed again in Texas alone. https://www.texastribune.org/2021/09/03/texas-covid-school-districts-shut-down/ This PA district closed Friday https://www.pennlive.com/coronavirus/2021/09/millersburg-schools-closed-due-to-covid-concerns.html Others are desperately looking for a way to pivot to virtual or at least hybrid. |

Two Chattanooga area school districts closing all of next week due to COVID-19 cases
Several area districts closed in previous weeks https://www.timesfreepress.com/news/local/story/2021/sep/03/school-closures-covid/553542/ |

Maybe they should close bars instead.
At any rate, I did see a few tweets on this policy by one of the moco councilmembers (not favorable). Maybe nothing will change but one can hope. |
When all else fails, dig up a Texas story. Those districts opened. They’ll temporarily close, then reopen. If the MCPS clown show attempts a 2020-21 repeat, they’ll be in near exclusive company. |
It’s not just Texas. It’s happening all over the US in places people insist on acting like covid is no big deal. Even some FL districts are closing. |
And they will reopen. Working as intended. Aside, Delta is starting to peak/post-peak. This is not an event that will carry through the school year. |
But you seem to think it won’t happen here for some reason. Why are we special? |
Stop peddling these stories as if districts just shut down and went to virtual for the year. Because that’s not what is happening. |
| Does anyone know what the MCCPTA has decided to do as a result of the call yesterday morning? |
I heard they didn’t discuss it because they were still reviewing the policy! |
What the f is wrong with you that you can’t understand that people would come to different conclusions than you because of how much they live and care for their kids and want to keep them safe? I weighed up the risks and decided that for our family the risk of isolation was much more significant for my kids than the risk of being at school. Because I care about them I sent them back. My elementary kid who suffered so badly last year is already back to good old self after only 5 days. It’s amazing and I am delighted to see him so happy. |
What are you talking about? Temporarily close and then re-open? That’s how it’s supposed to work. Virtual for the year isn’t happening. MCPS is the only clown show in the US that might toy with the idea. It’s not clear yet that their incompetence runs that deep, though. |
