She was with him for quite a while before they got married. She knew who she was marrying. And she was an Olympic athlete. It’s not like she didn’t have other options.

Actually, there is evidence that she was not allowed to leave Monaco during the wedding events and was, in so many words, forced to marry him.

I think it's earlier in this thread that someone said his family was providing financial support for hers, which needed it. You can declare that she should have told them to suck it up and go broke, and gone broke with them, but Albert did have leverage.

I don’t really follow royals but read that story somewhere and have pitied poor Charlene ever since. I dont recall all of the details but it involved her making a run for the airport which was ultimately unsuccessful and it almost seemed like kidnapping as allegedly her passport was stolen if not some extreme coercion. Apparently she was in unhappy tears during the wedding ceremony. So sad.

The whole thing stems from the baby momma of alberts 18 year old illegitimate son. She gave an interview - for $$$ - talking about Charlene and their ‘rivalry’ - and the close bond the kids all had.

Nicole Coste has regularly bashed Charlene in the media. She claimed that Charlene had her son moved to the servant quarters upon her marriage and she also criticized her recent absence.
