Madlax guy is much worst than Trig. Not even close. |
I believe he is leaving to take up a school leadership type position at St. Christopher's School in Richmond, although I don't know the specifics. He is very well thought of and this is something for career/family. |
Shame - Tabil is a really good guy. |
Trigg was fired / pushed out of Saint Stephens 3 years ago.
Andy Tabil is relocating his family to St. Chris in Richmond where he will also be the schools athletic director. |
SSSAS, STA and GP coaches all leave this year. Is it something about the schools or something about the crazy lacrosse people that drives this? |
Can you go into more detail about your statements in bold above? |
My understanding is that Taibl is taking a position running the school wide leadership program at St. Chris. After a national search, SSSAS has named Tim Dodds, an assistant under Taibl for five years (?) as the new head coach. Also a terrific guy who is a teacher at the school and who is well liked by the guys and their families. |
Not insinuating that he threatened to physically harm kids. But, there were a couple of instances I witnessed (and several that I heard about second hand but won't comment on) in which Trig told kids if they didn't make it to tournament X or Y that he would have to contact college coaches and let them know that these kids aren't really dedicated and perhaps they should consider looking elsewhere for players. In at least two of these instances the kids in question made it to 99.99% of all Blackwolf-related events and had (in one case) a family-related issue to deal with. Hard to give more details w out naming the kids, and I would rather not do that. Long and short, he has pulled some of the same unseemly stunts that Maddux has as well. Didn't say he was as bad as Cabbel, just too close to that mold for my liking - especially when there are a ton of great club programs in the area that don't pull that stuff. |
Yes, he has done that before. He's a bully. Now families will hear him go in about needing to consolidate and attend SJC. SSSAS was able to see over time how toxic it is to mix a club guy into a school program. It is just bad all around. |
If your kid is that good "you wont need to find us, we will find you". If getting a scholarship is your goal you will fare better in a private top ranked program. However, your kid will be over hyped and likely beaten out in College by a tough lax kid from the Island. Look at Dylan Maltz... no problem finding him in Loudon county. Club lax is a business and they pray on the hopes of parents having a super star athlete in the family. Play for fun and the talent will get noticed. |
The only local kids who played in the national championship game were public school kids. Dubick and Rowlett. |
So what? |
Not a MD or UNC parent, but pretty sure that Davis Allen (starter for MD) and Kenna who got significant time for (UNC) are both SSSAS graduates.
|
True. Although Kenna didn't play that much. But point well taken - the poster who said that Dubick and Rowlett were the only local guys who saw the field is an idiot. |
Yes, the Maltz brothers went to Stone Bridge public in Loudoun, but their father is a Cuse Lacrosse alum (Syracuse is one of the most in-bred programs there are)...in addition, they were both Blackwolf kids. You think their HS coach got them a look? Take away daddy and Blackwolf....they would have been lucky to play JMU club. Go take a look at every D1 Roster out there and ALL of the kids come from Private Schools..even the Canadians. The few who don't either go to a perenial lacrosse public school on the island (think Ward Melville) or upstate (West Genee). That said, yes....your kid at the very least needs to be on a strong club team with coaches that have contacts and credibility in the sport. If you can swing private and he can actually make the team....even better. Does that mean there isn't talent in public school, no. Does that mean your son has zero chance of being recruited to play somewhere if he stays in public school, no......but you do the math and check those D1 rosters. |
