yes it is democrats that are suing federal government to keep H1B visas for universities. A coalition of blue states is suing the federal government over its fee of $100,000 for H-1B Visas, several Democratic attorneys general announced on Friday. https://www.cnn.com/2025/12/12/politics/h-1b-visa-fee-lawsuit we are broken when the party of labor sues to allow universities to replace US workers with cheap temporary labor. because universities could not find "skilled" labor. when will democrats wake up and stop being mini me republicans? |

The biggest issue is the disconnect between job skills that employers need and the training programs that aren't teaching them. Universities, colleges, and technical programs often aren't getting DIRECT info from employers about what skills are in demand.
If Sammy is a US student who takes 32+ courses, but none of them teach the skills employers actually need, why is this their fault? Sammy graduates with soft skills, work ethic, and potential, but struggles to land an entry-level job. Employers assume Sammy will be too costly to train, so they don't even consider them. Sammy's willing to start entry level at $18/hr to build a resume and grow in a profession, but the job postings aren't even visible to them. And when they do apply, they're often facing a biased interview process. To fix this we need to start an employer led pathway for training. Americans and foreign students can both apply, but it needs to be accessible to all. This is systematic, and I don’t know who starts this. No incentive to..someone has to care about American 10-22 yo children(and adults) to put them on the right path. |

I didn’t say that they should be admitted to med school without an education. They should receive a much better education than they currently have access to so that they can become scientists and doctors rather than spending their time making trouble for the rest of us. Of course they don’t want a crappy salary for backbreaking work. We shouldn’t allow businesses to undercut our own country and its citizens by exploiting struggling immigrants. It’s in our own best interest to support rural american lest they turn to MAGA populism as a solution to their problems. |

You are literally scapegoating an entire group of people for the problems of our world and basing that on their skin color and class. You are not making any individual distinctions just skin color and class. That’s exactly the same kind of prejudice that black people and other minorities have been fighting against for centuries. What you are saying about scapegoating a particular demographic is true but the point you miss is that despite all the MAGA blather, rural Christian white males (and females) have never actually faced anything near the massive institutionalized systemic disparities that others in America have. So it's far from "exactly the same." Ironically you go on to scapegoat another demographic - the wealthy elites. Not that I disagree, they have indeed done a lot to fuel tribal infighting among the rest of us to distract. Just pointing out a bit of self-awareness to track. |

Do you know why we became a big engineering powerhouse? Because of pure mathematics and physics. Have you heard of corporate welfare? They take the tax break and they want the government to train workers for them. Think about what I wrote. The issues isn't not learning "practical skills". Physics and mathematicians can be taught quickly and become productive. No corporations want cheap workers that can do repetitive tasks. |

What a false narrative. It's not that the rural population is discriminated against, it's that every competent person leaves rural areas for opportunity. The ones who stay behind are elderly, or drug addled, or disabled. It's a natural sorting, and of course the rural areas are welfare sinks. Yup. Remember when Hillary was trying to create job training in coal mining country. There was one dad who refused to entertain that his kid would learn car computer engineering to take a job in Detroit because he'd have to move away from home in Appalachia. So, he guilted his son until he took a coal mining job like dad. The "stick your neck out is bad" philosophy in many poor, rural cultures is a huge, unaddressed issue. Immigrants work hard, and will move. A lot of MAGA don't like their kind trying to get ahead. |

Hypocrisy my butt. Not every rural white voter is not an evil schmuck Trump voter to be sure. But a huge portion of this demographic put the most incompetent , corrupt POTUS ever into office and STILL SUPPORT HIM in the face of the blatant grift and lies. They can literally F off. No services or jobs for them anymore? That is the consequence of their poor decision making in electing these losers. Don't care about their problems anymore, because they sank the ship. Black Americans have endured decades and decades of actual discrimination and injustice (as have other POC groups), very often at the hands of these a-holes and their ancestors. Yeah, I'm generalizing but I am so fed up. |
