Matt Gaetz tapped for AG

It’s in the report that Johnson is hiding. Why are the republicans covering up for a pedophile?

They have evidence that a 2 year DOJ investigation didn’t turn up? Why hasn’t he been arrested?

Define "anything."

A ridiculous aspect of this conversation is that people are acting like as long as Matt Gaetz didn't actually commit statutory rape, it's fiiiine and he should be AG.

Members of Congress are on the record saying Gaetz bragged about sexual exploits in the floor of the House and showed photos/videos of himself in sexual situations to fellow members, often with very young women. He is disliked by much of his caucus for being a Grade A troll who lies, provokes, and bullies colleagues. Even if you set aside his election denialism and the part he played in January 6 in riling up sentiment against Mike Pence (which I guess we have to set that aside since the president appointing him dud the same and worse) there are plenty of reasons why Gaetz is disqualified from being AG.

Even if the ethics probe didn't conclude he has sex with a minor, it's very likely they uncovered details of a ton of ethical violations including those I've just mentioned and likely others (lots of evidence to indicate Gaetz was and is a frequent user if hard illegal drugs and has regularly put himself in compromising positions that would open him up to blackmail and worse).

So the fact that he escaped federal prosecution isn't really the gotcha you seem to think it is.

The accusation is pedophilia. That’s a big deal. No evidence for it so stop smearing him with it.

The report from the House was bipartisan and a bipartisan group of Senators asked for its release.

Why would there be any objection to releasing it at this point if this is all a big witch hunt?

I agree! They should release the report. So glad we are on the same page PP!

A rare moment of agreement between the Dems and Reps.

Hopefully the Senate overcomes Mike Johnson's coverup, then.

Two men (one Senator Ben Cardin's staffer) in the Senate chamber screwing and filming it in late 2023.

But not Caligula back then, huh?

Also good ole Barney Frank with his underage male intern among other scandals:

The senate has no right to that report, nor does it have the power to order the house to do its bidding.

Which is why they're asking for it. What's the issue? Maybe it proves his innocence.

This guy literally resigned the day before the report was going to be published to avoid having it released. At a minimum, it raises serious questions about his suitability for the AG position. If he did nothing wrong why would he be so worried about the report that he would resign one day before the house was going to vote on publishing the report.

+1. If he is a stand up guy and this is a witch hunt, just release it. It was bipartisan so we will all see it for the witch hunt it is once released.

Why is this such a big deal?

Wall Street was pissed about Matt gaetz. So far I love how trump isn’t selecting neocon pro war folks. Vance, Gaetz, Gabbard, Hegseth. Rubio is probably the only traditional Republican in the bunch and I suspect he won’t last long

He has picked lots of warmongers: Rubio, Waltz, Stefanik, Huckabee, Hegseth. They all have been calling for war with Iran. Get your head out of your a$$.

You would think an AG would want truth and justice to prevail. Nothing to hide? Great let's see it.

Ibis aldra said I'd it best about the Me Too movement.
He wasn't worried about it because he has nothing to hide.
