If you look at that tableaux and think it was good art, you haven't traveled enough.

You would think they would know it’s not the last supper.
How is it non religious people like me know more about it?

They’re not very educated or cultured

Condescension towards others and a false sense of superiority are never appealing.

MAGA is always on the look out for their next meltdown.
They are still recovering from Taylor Swift appearing at the Super Bowl.

We all need to be unburdened by what has been.

It was a combo of poor planning and the rain. They were on a platform two meters deep with no wall or protection from the drop into the water. That's very narrow for a true can-can especially the split jumps and some of the partner lifts. On top of that the platform was covered in water and they were performing in heavy rain. They were wearing traditional can-can boots would are designed to offer a lot of stability for all the kicks and jumps in the dance but are intended to be used on a stage not a wet platform. They were also hearing the music through ear pieces as there was no other way for them to hear it.

So if it looked a little off that was why. They were able to rehearse on the platform but it wasn't pouring rain during the rehearsal and even then the dancers were a little stressed about how narrow the platform was. Add in the rain and the crowds and the inabilty to hear each other or see each other well and it was a very tough performance. So if they seemed a little off or out of time that is why.

I hope they get a chance to perform again during the games and maybe during the closing ceremony. That's such a classic Paris art form and those dancers work crazy hard (usually multiple shows a day 5-6 days a week at the moulin rouge plus television and other public performances throughout the year -- it's an insanely demanding schedule and all those dancers are absolutely working at a level of top athletes). It's too bad the weather and the planning didn't offer them a better opportunity to show off what they can do!

Also just want to note that the moulin rouge dancers are super into the Olympics in part because many of them come from all over the world. So they are like a little mini Olympics already and to get to root on their home countries in their adopted city while performing classic can-can at Olympic events is really special. I recommend checking out some of their videos on Instagram -- it is cool watching them get so excited over this event.

Thanks for this!! Good context.

A lot of the easily offended conservative Christians don't know very much about history or art.

Can we be enraged about France ban on the hijab…seems like religious discrimination. On second thought, France is proudly a secular country…they don’t care about ANY religion.

Anybody else saw the Jesus commercial during the opening ceremony?

Is that how you describe minority groups whose lives are mocked?

I know he’s a winter Olympian, but I was a little surprised one of France’s most famous athletes, Jean-Claude Killy, was not asked to e one of the final torchbearers. He’s still alive, at 80 years old.

What about the easily offended community of alternate sexuality practitioners? Maybe they should get over it.

A bit of research might indicate the reason.

I did a bit of research and I still can’t find a reason. Maybe you can enlighten us.

You mean like the liberals with their high rates of mental illness who freak out if someone doesn’t use their preferred pronouns? Like others have pointed out the fat lady posted on her instagram a photo of the performance next to a photo of The Last Supper with the caption “The New Gay Testament”.
