I hate that I sort of agree. It’s not as though she had the surgery yesterday. It’s been nearly two months. She knew her role long before she strolled down the aisle at Westminster Abbey. What they/she chose to do instead is nothing short of a disaster.

No one forced William to issue the photo. They have a history of using photos from one photo shoot for multiple holidays.

Exactly. He should have said thank you, Kate and I appreciate all the well wishes, cards etc. She loves the flowers. It's a normal PR-type response and still protects her privacy

This whole thing is such a dumpster fire! I think she really did have abdominal surgery (probably something bowel related and thus deemed embarrassing) and really is recovering out of the public eye, but the way they’ve handled this has been atrocious. They had to know people were going to analyze every pixel of that photo. This woman let herself be photographed within hours of giving birth… why not pose for a real photo?
