| we are leaving in 1 week. curious what rides (if any) are closed in Magic Kingdom during this time of year. how were the lines? how was the weather? THANKS! |
| There are lots of Disney oriented websites that list all of the closures. |
| thanks. I'm looking for firsthand experiences on this forum. |
| That's odd. |

Go to disboards and ask. Lots of frequent and recent visitors post there and will probably answer your question.

Closures can vary week to week, and Disney publishes the dates of ride refurbishments. You will find he most accurate information elsewhere but here's what I know.
Splash Mountain is closed and is scheduled to reopen the end of January I believe. Soarin is closed until summer. I also think Jungle Cruise may be closed but I'm not positive. During the winter months, they only keep one of the two water parks open (it rotates.) That's all I know off the top of my head. We are going in March. |

We have a home not too far from Orlando and are back and forth between here and DC every few years. The weather in Florida is completely unpredictable. It was warm enough to swim in the ocean last week. It's freezing (not literally, but it feels like it) tonight.
Ride closures vary as well, but generally, this is a good time to go. |
| We went in late January a few days ago, and it was wonderful. Beautiful weather. No crowds (one day my little ones and I spent about an hour riding the Buzz Lightyear ride over and over before a line finally formed). We only went swimming one day because our pool ended up closing for renovations. It is the best time of year to go to Disney. |
One time (several years ago) we went in January and it was so cold (40's midday) that all of the little ice cream vendor carts were selling hot chocolate. You just don't know what you'll get in January, but given how warm its been here you'll probalby be fine. |

Just got back from Disney. All rides were open, even in rain. 2 days of sunshine 1 super cold and rainy.
Crowds have gone home now. We weren't so lucky. |
| We've been a couple of times in January. It's a great time to go. Crowds are small, lines move, and the weather is good. It can be a bit cool for swimming, but still doable. |

The two times we've been to Disney have always been in January - MLK week to be exact.
The ride that is always closed during that time is Splash Mountain. I can't think of any others that were closed during our time and we missed. But check out the website because closures might be different this year. Weather can vary. The first time we went, it was jeans and t-shirt weather. When we went two years ago, we definitely needed jackets and one day we needed sweatshirts and the jackets and we were still a little chilly. We obviously never went swimming during our trips down there. The Brazilian tour groups go around this time. The park is crowded but not super crowded. Just avoid the Brazilian tour groups. |
| MLK weekend is crazy busy. Don't do it. |
As someone said, just go here: http://www.disboards.com/ |
| I've read that the Brazilian tour groups can be obnoxious. What is up with that? Is it easy to avoid them? |
