| Hi - we just received word that our kid is in the AAP screening pool. do we still complete and submit the referral package? I started putting it together so its partially done. Wasn't sure if it made a difference? thanks! |
| Can you share the NNAT and COGAT scores? |
| NNAt 120 / Cogat we haven't received yet. She got a first Grade GBRS of 13 |
| What school? |
| Thanks. Colin Powell ES. |
| Our AART recommends submitting the referral materials even if the kid is in pool - it is your chance to represent your child the way you see them. In pool doesn't guarantee in program. FWIW, we are in the same situation and AART said the parent referral form will be used as a reference (which is one of the optional type materials parents can submit). |
thanks! I kind of wanted to get the COGAT score before doing anything but I guess we will just go ahead and submit it. We are in a partial immersion school so I am not even sure what we would do in the off chance that she did get in. |
Don't overthink it right now. If admitted to AAP, you simply get one more set of options as the child is eligible for Level IV services through 8th grade - so you can opt them in or out at any time in between. Similarly, if not found eligible this year, you can refer every year if you wanted to. |
yes - another school option would be nice to have. our current school is great right now but has had a history of ups and downs. |
How did u get to know her First grade GBRS? |
I asked the AART after we received our level 2 services letter. |
The give a 1st grade GBRS? |
Did you get a letter in the mail? My son is in CP and has a 140 NNAT, I thought that would put him in the pool if the benchmark is 132. We have received no notification. |
They give a kindergarten and 1st grade GBRS without comment. You can ask the AART what it is at any time. |
Another thing, you mentioned pull outs. My son started getting pull outs in Kinder and I had no idea. No one wrote me a letter and I have never spoken to the AART. |
