| I just started reading the four agreements and it talks about how jealousy, not taking things personal, etc and how rejection is more a reflection of how we are feeling about ourselves, but it's helping a tad. Anyone else? |
| I know a woman who read "The Rules" ( of Dating) and applied them to the letter at the start of a new relationship, culminating in a marriage. So, I guess that worked for her? |
| Do the rules apply to men, also? |
| Yes, I have. Feeling Good by David Burns was one. |
| I think they're great. It's definitely helpful to have someone to chat about what you learn with. |
| Yes, absolutely. Although I suppose you have to be careful if you are suggestible. There is a lot of crap out there. |
I took the lessons of the Rules to heart (I read it when I was 17) and never pursued men. It has served me well in life. |
| lol... ex used to read those now they are in a pile with the cook books |
| The tidying book by Marie Kondo has been helpful for me. |
| The Dance of Anger is a good one, geared specifically toward women. It helped me understand that my resentment/anger toward my husband was a pattern of behavior for both of us and how to stop the cycle. |
| Deepak Chopra's meditation cds changed my life. They helped me to get out of a toxic work situation, saved my marriage, and made me a better parent. |
No idea. I never read it. I am only aware that this girl did, and her results. |
|
I always like the title of the early self help book
"I'm okay, you're okay" |
| Only people I know who read them, read a ton of them and nothing in their lives ever seems to change. Therapy helps, though. |
