Hi! There have been some threads on this in the past such as: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/373284.page#4915458
Hope that helps get you started.

Also try www.fertilethoughts.com for a very supportive and broad community, and www.resolve.org

Good luck!

I came across this organization in a magazine article last year and it was the first I had heard of embryo adoption. I really like the concept except in the end I decided not to donate my frozen embryo for adoption but do a FET myself. Although this is a Christian based organization, you do not have to be any specific religion to participate.

Check out miracles waiting. We donated two embryos that way.

We have one we'd love to give away for free at least on our part. It's been frozen for several years though. We just haven't had the time to go through any of these organizations nor did the fertility place give us any information to help us find an adoption site. It's locally held I believe. One of our children was conceived through this same cycle with one extra embryo. I was having complications physically so we just decided to use one of them. We have two healthy children now and just would like to donate the embryo to a couple instead of for research. Would anyone be interested?

It's held through Shady Grove Fertility so I'm hoping that something could be set up anonymously to donate it.

Actually it's probably not possible to donate it anonymously which is fine. We just don't have the funds to go through a whole agency process.

Will any of them work with a single person?

How much involvement and process is there on the part of the donor?

Would you consider working with us? I'm noticing costs on the websites of $8000 per embryos. I'm sure it could be transferred much cheaper.

As much or as little as you want. MW essentially provides a forum in which intended parents can post ads and donors can find them. Some donors post ads, although that is more rare.

You sift through the profiles to see who you think might be a good candidate. You contact them / her / him. Once you decide you want to donate to someone, you draw up a contract. It's customary for recipients to pay legal fees. You'll want to think through some things - do you and your SO want to have ongoing contact with the family, do you want no contact, do you want to be available to the child once he/she reaches 18? Will you transfer the embryo to the recipients' clinic, or will they have to go to your clinic? You will most likely have to go through a psych eval - it's just one appointment, and it's to make sure you understand the issues involved in donating. You and your SO may have to have minimal testing done, per FDA regulations. All costs again are typically paid by the recipients.

Oh wow, you are so generous! We are Shady Grove patients and just got our 3rd IVF negative last week after 4 Failed IUIs. Is your embryo still available? We would be interested in discussing this possibility.
