I access through Netflix through AppleTV. I find it bizarre and frustrating that Netflix doesn't give a basic content organization that would let you navigate through movies by genre and popularity.
What is the deal? It would be so much more useful if I could flip through comedies, or sci-fi, or rom coms or whatever. I have to think the poor organization is intentional, but the reason is beyond me. Why do they do this? Are there any work-arounds? |

I use a roku but I have categories to choose from

Its intentional. They want you to browse and to come across things you might not have heard or known about, and watch them.
Works for me. |
| Yes, i think it must be intentional. If you let people just seaech for what they want, 9 times out of 10 they wont have it, and you will be pissed. |
| Uh I can search and have categories to choose from? |
+1 I wish it was a little more intuitive and complete, though |
Yeah, I've noticed that their inventory of titles is depressing. Very small, and 90% of it is utter shit. |
| We recently got a near Apple TV and it has a completely different interface than the old one. I hate the new one-it's much harder to find things. |
| The netflix search function is so incredibly basic, it must be on purpose. |
| It totally depends on how you access it. I have a DVD player in one room, a smart tv, and two Amazon Fire sticks. The fire sticks are the most organized. The DVD player to access Netflix is the worst and most confusing. |
| Hulu is better organized |
This. It's not Netflix as much as the device using to access it. Devices like roku or Firestick constantly update their apps. My Samsung smart TV has a horrible format whereas the Firestick is amazing. When I don't have access to my Firestick I just browse through the Netflix on my phone to find what I want to watch then watch on TV. |

Same with prime. I have to find the programming on my
Fire stick TV first and then remember to search for it on my "Smart" TV. |
| I use instawatcher to sort through their stuff.. |
Me, too. I also spent part of a period of short term disability in bed a couple years ago and wasted a lot of time rating preferences on Netflix so I actually get great suggestions. Often, Netflix does not have what I'm looking for, but will suggest something else worthwhile discovering. We also have Prime and I actually think Netflix is better organized. |
