Lost my sh*t on my dad

I generally get along with my parents, but I lost on them tonight when it came out they support Trump.

I don't get - they raised me to be an incredibly strong, independent and outspoken woman, but they don't think he is sexist.

My best friend is Mexican. They love him, like he is an unofficial member of the fam, but they don't find Trump's comment offensive.

I am just so angry right now..

Hoping they live in a very red state so that while it will make you crazy it won't necessarily affect the outcome of the election.

If it makes you feel any better they have lots of company. Go online and watch 60 Minutes from last week - they did a story on focus groups of Trump voters and it was illuminating (scary to me) how much people forgive him for (racist/sexist comments in particular).

Please. Bill Clinton is credibly accused of rapes. He was impeached for lying under oath in a sexual harassment lawsuit that he had to settle for 1 million dollars. Is the depositions need to be opened during the campaign as I'm sure Trump will demand .. Omg !!

Guess what op? My husband is an immigrant, my best friend's parents are immigrants (she was born here in the USA shortly after they arrived here), and several other friends of mine are immigrants. Some of them are even Mexican! While Donald trump wouldn't be MY choice for president I wouldn't judge ANYONE, let alone my family members for supporting him. My dad supports him too, and guess how our conversation went:

Me: really dad? Tell me what you like about him.

My dad: (explained all the reasons why he likes him)

Me: oh ok, that's cool dad, I'm hoping (my choice for next president) wins the nomination.

My dad: oh yeah, why do you like him?

No anger, great conversation between two adults, both of us learned something and treated each other with respect. We don't have to agree with each other to have a conversation. You owe your parents an apology for acting like a jerk.

Actually, I don't. I am not sorry and I am not going to lie. We have had calm conversations about others who are publicly racist that they defend and support. This is the last straw in my tolerance of their support of intolerance.
