Lost my sh*t on my dad

I don't get - they raised me to be an incredibly strong, independent and outspoken woman, but they don't think he is sexist.

My best friend is Mexican. They love him, like he is an unofficial member of the fam, but they don't find Trump's comment offensive.

I am just so angry right now..

I'd be angry, too, OP. I'd be angry at their values and ashamed of their stupidity. My parents find other ways to exasperate me, but they see Trump as the racist, sexist buffoon that he is. If Trump were to win, which seems unlikely, we would look to leave the United States permanently, as it would confirm that the idiocy of most Americans. Frankly, even with the polls indicating Trump could not win a general election, the measure of support he currently enjoys is revolting.

You people are sad.

I would have given my father a Trump hat and a signed book instead of pitching a fit like a child and acting like an ass because he doesn't do what I want.

Trump actually seems cleaner, more organized and healthy compared to Hillary. She still thinks she's "married" and calls Bill "my husband". I think her brain may be broken.

Do you really think Trump's golddigger foreigner of a wife can stand him? I don't think you want to base the election on which candidate has a better marriage.

Trump is fat and gross.

That said, no need to get so upset that your parents like him, OP.

If it makes you feel any better they have lots of company. Go online and watch 60 Minutes from last week - they did a story on focus groups of Trump voters and it was illuminating (scary to me) how much people forgive him for (racist/sexist comments in particular).

Please. Bill Clinton is credibly accused of rapes. He was impeached for lying under oath in a sexual harassment lawsuit that he had to settle for 1 million dollars. Is the depositions need to be opened during the campaign as I'm sure Trump will demand .. Omg !!
He was president and he did a good job.

Bill wasn't impeached.

Bernie Sanders is the only candidate worth looking at at this point. I would love to see a woman on the ballot, but Hilary's not that woman for me. Their family has been in the white house enough. We need some SMART contenders and I'm disappointed with who we have right now.

That said, OP your parents can like or dislike whomever they wish. So can you. You need to respect that their opinions are different from your, but that doesn't make them wrong or invalid.

Guess what op? My husband is an immigrant, my best friend's parents are immigrants (she was born here in the USA shortly after they arrived here), and several other friends of mine are immigrants. Some of them are even Mexican! While Donald trump wouldn't be MY choice for president I wouldn't judge ANYONE, let alone my family members for supporting him. My dad supports him too, and guess how our conversation went:

Me: really dad? Tell me what you like about him.

My dad: (explained all the reasons why he likes him)

Me: oh ok, that's cool dad, I'm hoping (my choice for next president) wins the nomination.

My dad: oh yeah, why do you like him?

No anger, great conversation between two adults, both of us learned something and treated each other with respect. We don't have to agree with each other to have a conversation. You owe your parents an apology for acting like a jerk.

Tolerance doesn't mean you put up with any and everything. It's unconscionable to be tolerant of bigotry and racism.

This is why we play board games and go to the movies between meals. No time for awkward convos.
