| What did other SAHMs do for childcare during monitoring appts.? Husband can't take time off work in the mornings (can only take a full day off, no half days), no family in the area, other friends are full-time working moms who use daycare. I don't know anyone with a nanny. I don't know any other SAHMs well enough to ask them to watch my toddler either. Neighbors work full-time. I'm not sure what to do other than husband using precious vacations time to take two weeks off for my first IVF. Toddler is almost 2 and very active, will not sit with a book/toys and be occupied while I get u/s and bloodwork done. I really can't bring him with me. I think it would be very hard to find a babysitter off care.com who only wants to work for two weeks for two hours in the morning. |

Care.com
Where are you located and what clinic? I'm in the same boat and could help you out. |
| It sucks. Fortunately, my husband is able to take off/go in late/early most of the time. There's a homeschooled teenager in my neighborhood who is available sometimes. Also, I have a small playgroup of other sahms who help occasionally. You need to find more sahm friends, or just start getting together a list of babysitters, and just start calling down the list. |
| You should at least try care.com and neighborhood list servs. I don't think it will be that difficult. |
| You will probably have luck finding a college student on care.com who is looking for some extra money. |

OP you seem to have ruled out every answer already.

| My spouse went in late those days but it was just an hour or so. I was there when the doors opened at 7 and/or got the first appt of the day (two different clinics). Are you sure you are familiar with all the possible office locations? You must not be at Shady Grove if you are contemplating this. I've taken my toddler seated in a stroller to an annual exam and he did fine. A good ultrasound tech is quick. |
OP here. I am with Shady Grove. My husband has to be at work at 6 am (shift work) which is before all the monitoring appts. So I'm not sure what to do. I could try taking my toddler in the stroller, but he is loud and very whiny when he can't do what he wants, so I think it would be very distracting but I could try it once I suppose. |
Shady Grove doesn't really allow children - I know people have taken their kids before but they request you don't out of respect for other patients. |
| Care.com urbansitter.com You can join a moms club and let them know you have an important appointment, and I'm sure someone can help you. If there was a way for you to contact me, I live near SG and could help. I also go there but 6:45/ 7am appts work fine and I'm home before DH goes to work. |
| You can bring a kid to shady grove although they obviously prefer not. You just have to wait outside the main waiting area. It makes things more stressful so definitely don't recommend it. Check care.com or see my if there is a local mom group on Facebook where someone can make a recommendation. |
| Yes contact me too, I live near SG and am in a similar situation, so I would be happy to help. I work from home. |
|
If you give shady grove a heads up they can meet you in the hall and you can go in the back way. I have had to take my kid twice and they understood and worked with me. It is not ideal but will work on a pinch. I would try to get he first appointment or very last. Good luck. It is hard trying to juggle it all.

| Yes, which office are you going to. I offered on the last thread you posted about this to help out but never saw any further info. |

Please don't bring your kids - from someone sitting there at my most reflective time on what's missing in my life, please for the love of god give me that moment of peace in my day.
I know and respect that you have your own challenges. I know life doesn't stop. I just ask that for all the women sitting there trying to swallow their bitterness that they're going through another f-ing cycle, that they don't have any children yet have to be sympathetic to their co-workers kid isn't sleeping through the night yet, that they're getting up early to drive out of their way to have blood draws and the US shoved up their vagina before putting on their game face for work....give them that moment of help like SG asks you to. |
