| I know this questions has been asked a hundred times, but I'm getting conflicting advice from friends. Do people generally give smaller amounts to center teachers? This is our first holiday at a center- previously we had a home daycare with only two providers. There, we gave 1/2 of a week's tuition to both which amounted to almost $500 each. I was thinking the same for the center - just $1000 split between 7 teachers (four in my one year DD's room and the two teachers in my oldest DD's room). Is this the norm? |

Im confused - how much did you pay per week in your old center? Do you mean per month?
We are in a large center that collects for a holiday fund they split between teachers. |
| No, we have two kids so 1/2 a week was $500 ($1K a week). It was a small daycare - only six kids for two providers . How much are you giving towards the collection? |
| I'm doing $100 for four primary teachers (2 for each child) |
| ^^$100 each, that is |
Your home daycare charged 1k/wk for two kids? Wow. We gave $300. They ask for 50-500 per family depending on what you can give. |
Yes, it's honestly not much cheaper than the center we're at now and was perfect when our kids were infants/babies. Two separate sleeping rooms and only kids 2 and under were accepted. Just because it's a home daycare doesn't mean it is dirt cheap. |
| We're also doing $100 each for the primary teachers. Between two kids, there are three primary and an additional three assistants. How much is everyone giving to the assistants? Is $25 good per teacher or should I bump it up to $50? |
| OMG, at our center parents usually do $25 per teacher. No way I can do $100 per teacher. |
| We're splitting a week's tuition ($360) between the five teachers who have taken care of DC this year. (two rooms) So probably we'll round to $75 each. |
ok, thank goodness. I was getting sticker shock at the PPs. |
I did $20 per teacher last year (5 teachers). This year, there are two teachers (different preschool, smaller classes) + a floater. I'll probably do $50 per teacher and $25 for the floater. |
| We always try and do at least a $100 each for the lead teachers. They're with our kids more than we are during the week (at least awake hours) and the kids love them like family. We try and make it a priority even if we have to really budget for it. Daycare teachers don't make a lot of money so it's nice knowing they have a little extra spending money through holiday gifts. |
| At our center, what people give really varies. We gave $100 this year, to be split between the teachers. |
| I do $100 each for two teachers. They are really good. |
