Calling all coffee snobs...

I'm looking to get a gift for someone who is a big foodie, works in the industry and all, etc who has expressed interest in a coffee setup at home. Where do I start? What items, what brands, good beans? What's the minimum she would need to start drinking something?

minimum to start is a clever dripper: http://www.amazon.com/Clever-Coffee-Dripper-CoastLine-Ounces/dp/B00EOM5RN0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1450176946&sr=8-2&keywords=clever, filters (#4), and good beans ground for clever. I get my beans from Caffe Amouri in Vienna https://www.caffeamouri.com. However, I just walk there. The beans are roasted on site, and the roasting profile is based on the beans.

Don't get plastic dripper - yuck. Ceramic is better.

You could get cold brew supplies.

I also like the French Press method.

This is an expensive one but it works great: http://www.amazon.com/Bodum-Brazil-French-Coffee-34-Ounce/dp/B005ADS5FO/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1450182649&sr=8-5&keywords=french+press

Coffee should be coarse ground for French Press.

Get a chemex and whole beans

If she doesn't have a grinder, get her an entry-level bur grinder for around $40

Don't get him any brewer - he will have his own favorite likely. If you want to get him one, get him the aeropress:

If you want to shell out some bucks, get him a good burr grinder, that way he can brew with whatever he wants!

Do you know this person's schedule? Does she rush out of the house to get to work in the morning, or works from home?
My perfect gift would be a pour-over kit: a ceramic dripper (Chemex is a waste of $$ and the output is the same), a pack of filters, and a pack of designer-roasted coffee beans. However, such a gift would not work for me because I eat breakfast in the office and my morning coffee comes from the office Keurig but it would be perfect for a WFH or SAH person who has the time to make coffee.

PP - do you have brand names to recommend for these items? Also, I know nothing about beans - what are some great ones that I can order online to ship?

Personally I'd love a pour over that came with a mug. Like this:

Or this:

Starbucks has one that looks good too except it says Starbucks on it.

Filters you can get at the grocery store.

If you are in DC, Zeke's coffee is really great and they sell pour over supplies.
