Son flushed toy down toilet - seems ok but should I call plumber?

Anonymous
My son flushed a small toy fruit down the toilet. It apparently went right down no problems and seems to be working for now. Is this something that could cause a problem later on if it's seems to be working now? Should I get a plumber in here?

If it works, don't worry about it.

I would just let it go..haha. If the toilet is acting normal I think I would just not worry about it. When they were little one of my kids' friends used our toilet. I went in there to see one of my pretty little knick knacks - a swan filled with decorative flowers - sitting at the bottom of our toilet.

Obviously it didn't go down. Did that budding little scientist flush anything else? I have no idea. The toilet never had a problem though.

Thanks. I'm hoping it's fine. It was a melissa and Doug wood strawberry - so pretty solid. I'm hoping the pipes are prepared for some serious constipation issues and this wood circle will just travel on out.

My ds flushed my entire set of keys once, fob and all. We lived there for five years after that and never had a problem.

My teen accidentally flushed a retainer. Toilet worked ago for a while but started to drain very slowly. The retainer was caught where the toilet mounted to the floor and was keeping stuff from going down the drain.

I flushed a tennis ball once. My dad was shocked that it never caused a problem.

It could cause a problem eventually. I would get it snaked soon, especially if you've never had it done. Things can build up over time - like tampons previous owners may have flushed.

If something happens later, it becomes an emergency and you'll become desperate and end up paying a ton of money for an after hours plumber.

Mine flushed a matchbox excavator - to his great dismay.

It also never caused a plumbing problem.

Aw, now I feel bad for the little guy. I can see the look of dismay on his face.

No, things do not build up over time in your toilet. If you have a septic tank instead of municipal sewer, then maybe it could cause some problems. Otherwise, if the toilet is not draining slowly, the strawberry has left your house.

My 3-year-old was waving around a kid-sized washcloth one day -- threw it in the toilet while I was flushing -- it went right down. He was surprised, I was amazed (and unhappy, but what are you doing to do that that point).

It did not cause a problem, though.

Paw patrol figure was just flushed down my toilet. Doesn't seem to be having any issues though 🤞
