Home Page Down

Anonymous
We are facing multiple problems today related to various upgrades that didn't work out. I can't even login. Temporarily, I've redirected the Home Page to the the main forum page. I'm trying to fix the problems, but have a lot of challenges. Hardware may need to be replaced on the main server and that could take a couple of days. The server that makes backup also quite working this afternoon so I can't even recover anything from backups at the moment.

Forgot to mention but it should be obvious, I can't log either.

It's back. The list of things that went wrong today is remarkable. But, hopefully things will hold together. I have one server out of commission but hopefully can get it fixed in a day or two.

is there any reason the "Report" function seems dead? There are numerous threads that are duplicates (e.g., Costco return policy) or in the wrong forum.

The report function is working for me. What happens when you try it?

I can fill out the form without any problems. But when I click the "report" button to submit the form, I can see a message saying "Waiting for response from dcurbanmom.com" in the lower left hand corner of my browser. The form never goes through and eventually I time out. This has been happening at least 2 days. I also have issues with DCUM forums for several minutes AFTER timing out.

I am using Chrome on one laptop but Firefox on another computer. Both seem to be having trouble.

Is it possible that you are connecting to "dcurbanmom.com" instead of "www.dcurbanmom.com"? I had fixed this issue at one time, but maybe it came back during the problems of the last few days.

My URL currently reads www.dcurbanmom.com I'll try another report and see what happens.

When I attempted the report, it was waiting for a response from www.dcurbanmom.com . After more than 2 minutes, it finally timed out.

Are you using some sort of ad-blocking software or do you have javascript turned off? I am not sure how either of those would cause this problem, but it's the only anomaly that I see in the logs for your attempts to send a report.

I updated Java. I also switched to IE on the laptop as a test and still have the same issues. I was fine before this weekend.

Have you rebooted either computer lately? Also, are they in different locations or the same? The log files show strange information. I see you load the report page. The last one I see you were reporting the thread about the Christmas song. But, I don't see the "POST" that would come after you submit the form. That is consistent with your experience of the submission not connecting. After you submit the form, what does it say in the URL bar (the top that shows the URL to which you are connecting)? Maybe it is trying to connect to HTTPS instead of HTTP or maybe the hostname changed (it should be www.dcurbanmom.com).

Yes, they have both been rebooted a few times since the weekend.

My IP address on my work laptop (what I'm using now) changes after I use the employer's VPN. So I'm in a particular location around DC, but my location probably shows up Chicago. Or Dallas. Or Philly. It's always an interesting location that isn't my house. Is that what you're seeing?

When I'm using my actual computer, it would be in the DC suburbs.

I'll get back to you on the "what happens after I attempt submitting the form" question. I believe the hostname is still www.dcurbanmom.com but can't comment on http vs. https.

Your IP address seems to be geographically in one of the cities you named, but is registered to a business located in the DC suburbs.

Yes, it's probably registered to a location in Nova.

Anyway, on my home computer now. Again, couldn't report successfully due to a timeout. I will try to PM you the exact URL from that process.
