| from what I have read, PSAT scores are usually released in the beginning of December. This year, the release of scores is delayed according to DC high |
| Sorry, this posted before I finished writing. The results are delayed this year because of the new format and statistical analysis required to map new Answers to scores. Does anyone know when to expect the results? Thanks. |
| I am a college counselor and we were told to expect them in January. |
| Do you know when in January? That is at least a month'S delay. Why would it take 3 months to score a multiple choice test with no essay? |
| Because the College Board can't do anything right. There was a complete fiasco surrounding the transmission of SAT scores to colleges in October and November. No reasonable explanation was given. |
| A post on College Confidential is reporting that this year's PSAT scores will be out on December 12th. |
| A post on College Confidential is saying that this year's PSAT scores will be out December 12, 2015. |
| That sounds specific enough to be credible. My kid is doing ACT specifically becaUse I was worried about the transition issues that might arise with the new SAT format. The collegE application process is stressful enough on these kids. No need to add to the drama. |
| PSAT scores will be available to students online on January 7, 2016. This is a month later than last year. |
| ugh! this delay makes me want to just go for it with the ACT even though my kid liked the PSAT better. too much stress in an already stressful environment. |
Why do you need the scores RIGHT NOW? |
|
I don't have a kid taking it this year, but from what I understand, the changes to the SAT will essentially make it more similar to the ACT. So why not just do the ACT this year?
I realize the ACT people have their problems with getting scores back, also, but, at least at this point, their test has a more established background than the new SAT. And this is from someone who typically prefers the SAT (and two of my kids have, also). |
Different Poster here: It helps becasue you see which type of questions the student missed and if there is a pattern. I know we were planning on DC boning up on his relative deficiencies over the winter break when he had little homework. It was extremely helpful with my older son. Based on the results, we were able to see that he missed 80% of the questions on one specific type of grammar question and the rest were more scattered. We concentrated on learning that aspect of grammar and he was able to raise his score in that section by more than 150 points. It was strategic and ended up requiring much less time. He was one and done in March. It definitely reduced stress junior and senior year. |
Makes perfect sense. Our junior DC took the SAT on 12/5 so we can get an idea NOW whether to retake, if needed, January 2016 or ACT in April or June 2016. DC will also take the subject tests in June. The goal is to have no standardized testing for senior year so DC can concentrate on applications and essays without the stress of testing. Btw, DC asked if it would be alright to start working on the apps as soon as they come out in August. I like this kid. |
I am the "ugh" poster and this is exactly it. My kid will be in the middle of exams when the scores come in and won't be able to focus on any test prep. |
