Why do you need the scores RIGHT NOW?

It helps becasue you see which type of questions the student missed and if there is a pattern. I know we were planning on DC boning up on his relative deficiencies over the winter break when he had little homework.

It was extremely helpful with my older son. Based on the results, we were able to see that he missed 80% of the questions on one specific type of grammar question and the rest were more scattered. We concentrated on learning that aspect of grammar and he was able to raise his score in that section by more than 150 points. It was strategic and ended up requiring much less time. He was one and done in March. It definitely reduced stress junior and senior year.

Makes perfect sense. Our junior DC took the SAT on 12/5 so we can get an idea NOW whether to retake, if needed, January 2016 or ACT in April or June 2016. DC will also take the subject tests in June.

The goal is to have no standardized testing for senior year so DC can concentrate on applications and essays without the stress of testing. Btw, DC asked if it would be alright to start working on the apps as soon as they come out in August. I like this kid.

My eldest DC did this. He wanted something over the summer that would have required my help, I said I would when he was finished with a decent first draft of his essay. He did it immediately and had a working draft. It was the best idea I had that summer. He tweaked it in English class in the early fall.

Online only. This is the first time a paper copy will not be sent. Your student should have the passcodes needed to access it.

^ Aren't passcodes emailed on 1/7/16? My student does not have this info. He does have a College Board account set up, but I think he is waiting on an access code to see his PSAT results via his CB account. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that was our understanding.

Not having scores over Winter Break is unfortunate, for a variety of reasons.

I just checked our college board account. There are no scores in there yet for the 2015 PSAT.

My DD was able to access her scores.

What do you think the NMSF cutoff for DC will be this year?

Educated guess coming out of my you know what: >1500

Scores are up for my DS. Importantly, the score to watch is the Selection Index Score, not the "Total Score" - which was confusing to me. College Confidential is discussing this topic in-depth, obviously.

Everyone is making guesses now, but some of the more reputable test prep companies are saying nsm selection index of 224 which is lower than 1500 composite--of course they are pulling it out of their you know whats, too. A 1500 has a nam selection score of 225. In reality it is just wait and see at this point.
