4 days in June- Madrid or Barcelona?

| Will be with my parents, they are 60s-70s but quite mobile. Cost being equal, which city would you rather pick and why? They will go to art museums if I bring them, but are not art people. |

| It's like choosing a favorite child. Both are great but very different. Madrid feels more Spanish - has great neighborhoods and museums, great cafes and restaurants, closer to more day trip opportunities like Toledo, Segovis, and the Escorial. Barcelona also has great food and atmosphere, art and architecture, but not as typically Spanish. Both great choices. |

| Barcelona. We did both this past summer and while I'm glad we went to Madrid, Barcelona was more fun. There are beaches not far. |

| responses are interesting- surprised that it is so swayed in favor of bcn. if beaches are not of interest and madrid seems to feel "more spanish" than it sounds like madrid may be the winner. perhaps do bcn as a daytrip? |

I disagree about Madrid feeling more Spanish. Barcelona is a beautiful city--Madrid is just a big city. Everyone has said Barcelona over Madrid, so I guess, if you are OP, you had already decided. |
