Mil won't leave til she goes to the bathroom

And she's been complaining about her constipation for hours. Her daughter is waiting to take her home (2 hr drive) but she is refusing to leave until she can poop bc she's afraid that she will have to go while on the road.

I have a 70yo aunt like this -except she won't leave her house for the day until she has pooped.

Mag citrate. CVS brand. Lemon or cherry flavor. One bottle will leave her colon clean as a whistle.

She has had some tea and miralax. I've had mag citrate and it involved extended time on the toilet

This. Op, have a little compassion. The elderly do not always have the same bowel control as younger people. She may be afraid of having an accident if she can't ultimately get to a bathroom in time. People on the board constantly amaze/disgust me. If you live long enough you will deal with the same indignities. Hopefully, you will have a more compassionate and understanding family, but considering the behavior you model for your children, that is doubtful.

I've had my gall bladder removed and every once in a while I need a bathroom quick. Gross but true. Maybe your MIL has a similar issue?
