Which is the more prestigious school?

They are both terrible.

Cool story, bro.

Is this a joke? Harvard.

Off-brand krispy bar in a very nice wrapper, or Valrhona-dipped vanilla-baked almond in an equally nice, dark wrapper?

Is this a real question?

Georgetown is the winner if you want to go into diplomatic service. Otherwise, Harvard
Anonymous
No. Harvard is always the winner.

I am so sorry about what you are going through with this difficult decision.
Hugs to you as you figure out the right path, only you know what is in your heart and soul.
Hope that you find some peace.

Just saying "Georgetown vs Harvard" is kind of ridiculous without context. Clearly Harvard has far more international prestige and name recognition, but Georgetown is also quite well known and also very hard to get into. Will be around very smart kids in either place. If get a huge discount at GT due to employment status of a parent, then do know kids that chose GT over Harvard. The SFS is very well regarded and being in DC a plus for international relations/government studies. But for sciences GT is truly an underperforming institution, very very few well-known or even well-funded scientists at GT, so scientific research opportunities are much much less plentiful than at Harvard. In terms of schools at about the same "rank" whatever that means, Cornell or Wash U or Emory for instance much better for sciences, or a large top state school such as Michigan or UI for engineering.

Harvard is ranked much higher. G'town is fine but not great

OP here. My son got into the Harvard University’s Master in Middle Eastern Studies program and the Georgetown School of Foreign Service's Master of Arts in Arab Studies (MAAS) program.

He is a middle east history buff and wants to go into intelligence work.

Then I would find foreign service professionals and ask in the industry re which is held in higher regard.

At his age, you could let him make that decision.
