| ?? I live in a walkable neighborhood and would like to bring my dog when I'm walking to get a coffee or run a quick errand. She is really well behaved and does fine being tied up on a leash. She loves getting out and I hate leaving her behind when I'm running an errand. Thoughts? |
| Would she bite a child who climbed on her? |
| I wouldn't do it because there are some sick people in the world who might do something to hurt/provoke the dog for fun. I once saw a group of teens kicking a little dog tied up outside a coffee shop (yes, I did put a stop to that). |
| Leave the dog at home if it's not well behaved. If it's well behaved, leave it outside. Whatever you do, DO NOT ever be one of those jerk dog people that brings their animals with them everywhere. In retail stores, drug stores, or any store (that aren't pet stores), and definitely not food/beverage establishments. |
|
I would if I could see her out of the window, like a coffee shop.
I have an unnatural fear of someone taking my dog and doing something awful so I dont leave her unattended out of my sight. |
| OP here- She is a very sweet and loving dog and wouldn't bite. She not a barker either. DH or kids and I bring her with us and sit outside at coffee shops, etc.. and usually someone sits outside with her while the other goes in. Then we sit outside and she just lays by our feet while we enjoy our drink. I'd just like to be able to take her when I'm by myself. We don't bring her inside any establishments (I don't think it's allowed at most). |
| No. I love my dog and I be afraid someone would steal him. |
| No, its annoying. |
|
No. Just because I know that my dog is well behaved, super sweet, friendly and yada yada does not mean that everyone else knows that. And just because I have taken the time to teach my own kids how to treat animals does not mean that everyone else has done that for their kids.
My dog doesn't shop at stores so I don't bring my dog with me to stores. |
NP here. What is? |
| No because there are some animal militants who think this is abuse. They will steal your dog. There are others who will steal it and wait for reward$. |
I have a small, cute dog and I would really be afraid that someone would snatch him. That's been a common problem with the little dogs and they have a lot of resale value (I'm not joking). |
|
I thought this was a pretty normal thing to do? I've certainly seen it from time to time.
- not a dog owner |
| We do this regularly with our dog. He's friendly and tends to get a lot of attention when we're out. I don't think he'd be likely to get stolen though, since he's a medium-sized mix. |
You leaving your dog tied up outside. I hate dogs. If I saw it and could not get around the dog easily, I'd leave the business and they would lose their income. Leave your dog at home. It is not just about you. My kid was scared ones too by a dog and now will not go near them. When he is with me, we don't even try to go anywhere near. You may like dogs, but not everyone does. |
