The Trump Women and their Fashion Mishaps - Part Three

The BRF meet and greet seems very coordinated on the fashion front. Melania's hat matches Kate's dress. Trump and William are wearing extremely similar ties.

With Charles and Camilla, there's a blue theme going on. Melania's suit reads as very dark blue in this photo, Trump's is clearly navy, and then Chuck and Cam in lighter shades:

The hat though, OMG the hat. I think Melania just really loves this look, loves being able to shield half her face from cameras at an official event, and also probably likes trolling people. If her husband wasn't the worst thing to happen to American politics, I would find her amusing.

The hat is NOT good. And for some reason she kept it on inside, even though all of the royal ladies took theirs off. It looks even more ridiculous indoors.

Just curious... Are women expected to take their hats off indoors in the UK? Is there any royal protocol about when they can keep them on or need to remove them?

That's a good question. The Queen did wear hats indoors but I believe they all always take theirs off for these events... Maybe it's the type of hat or type of event?

Melania is actually correct. Ladies don’t wear hats in their own home but female guests do if it’s a somewhat formal visit. The thinking is that the guest’s hat is part of her outfit and also that removing the hat might wreck her hair. But as the hostess, you’d know how to slip the hat off quickly and where to quickly touch up.

This is too polished to be anything Usha would wear.

Am I the only one who loves Melania's look? I love the color combo, think the off the shoulder is youthful but not in a "I'm almost 60 trying to look 30" way, hair and makeup is on point. She looks beautiful.

Melania girl... what are you doing.

Unbelievable. I hope her luggage was lost. No other explanation. Definitely has gained substantial weight recently.
But to dress as the big banana (republic)?
Looks like etiquette dictates long sleeves and nigh neck. But no, she had to take a page out of Meghan Markle playbook and have her shoulders on full naked display.
This is really bad.

What? The only requirement for women's white tie attire is that they wear a floor-length gown. There is no rule saying they can't bare their shoulders.

White-Tie Attire for Women
"For women, it's all about a full-length gown," Cook Smith says. "White-tie calls for something truly special: floor-sweeping silhouettes, luxurious fabrics like silk or satin, and just the right touch of drama."

"Although Melania has not always adhered to royal protocol, this floor-length gown met the castle’s rigid standards."

Full length gloves would have hidden the tasteless nails and elevated the look.

One of my coworkers made a comment about Melania's nails at lunch today, too. Wonder why the uptick in comments about them - she's always worn long pale pink acrylics.

I agree. I think she looks fantastic. The dress is a sophisticated look that suits her. Hair and makeup on point. The only thing I don't care for is the color of the sash with the yellow, but other than that I think it's a great look and entirely elegant and appropriate. The clutching pearls comments are hilarious.

Were these photos selected specifically for their expressions. Because: woof.

The concealer on Trump's hand matches Mel's dress.

Who does he think he’s fooling? And it’s his right hand. Does his theatrical makeup come off on other people when they shake hands?

I kind of like the colors but I think it looks like she’s going to an Easter party

It's a different color combo for sure. But I like that. It would be so easy to do yellow with a neutral belt, but I like that it's a color combo you don't see a lot. Makes it look fresh.

Yes lol. If it were Usha, the dress would be rumpled, falling off of her, and she'd have a messy bun and bad makeup.

Well, it’s career duicide for the stylist. But if she wants to make a mockery of the royal family, she nailed it!
Here’s a way to look fat, look disrespectful, look deranged- all at once. It must be a message.

*side note Catherine chose to wear gold, rare for her, because well, the Oval Office and trump likes sparkly gold things

I don't think she looks fat at all. My friend sent me a text earlier saying "Good god, Melania's truly eating her feelings this administration" so I assumed she looked awful or something. She looks the same weight she did last time she deigned to make an appearance.

Melania has an apple shaped body (all gut) and is menopausal. She hasn't been model-thin in years. She's just an average weight now.

Oh, goodness. You must have been so appalled when Michelle Obama wore this to a white tie dinner w/Queen Elizabeth. Shoulders on "full naked display"!!! The horror. And don't say, "well at least she was wearing full length gloves!" Melania had long sleeves, so no need for any gloves at all. Not that they're even required anymore, as seen with the Spanish queen.

+1
She certainly isn't fat and doesn't look fat in any way. She looks healthy and fit.

I don't know what the naked shoulders people are complaining about but gosh, look how good michelle looks. Is this so hard? Or is Melania going for a high fashion avant garde thing? I don't even hate the banana outfit, but the fact that I'm going to be able to say "banana dress" for the rest of this administration and you'll all know what I'm talking about is a problem.

That yellow is an odd choice for this time of year, IMO. It’s springy. Maybe a more golden yellow or a jewel tone would have looked better.

I really wish we could see the shoes.

I actually think she looks great in the yellow dress and the emerald earrings. The lavender sash is the only thing that throws it off. It's a Carolina Herrera gown.

Mel really likes a broad belt. I’m not opposed to it myself but it’s weird here and makes the dress more casual. I wonder if a different belt would make it dressier. Maybe one with more bling. I still think the dress is just better for a different event thiugh. It’s a nice dress but not for this.
