How are Old Navy's clothing for toddler's? Do they wash well? Fade? Is there shrinkage? Compared to Carter's, do the sizes run larger or smaller then Carter's? I've never shopped at Old Navy since I was a teenager and they seem to have really good sales. And I tend to do all my 'school' clothing shopping for my kids online so can someone point me in the right direction with old Navy? I found some nice sweaters for toddlers online but I am hesistant to purchase them. It's really easy to click away and put $100 worth of sales in your cart and take advantage of the specials but are there toddler clothing worth it? I am looking at sweaters, shirts, pants they can wear at school / daycare and out and about town. Thanks in advance for the feedback!

| They have some cute stuff. Runs smaller than Gymboree. Not sure about Carters; I don't shop much there now that she's a toddler. Same sizing as Gap since they are the same company. Washes fine, some graphic tees not great, but I put them in the dryer, which I shouldn't do. |
| I stock up on kid basics at ON -- khakis, jeans, unbranded fleece pullovers. They have adorable quarter zip pullovers right now -- can be dressed up or down. I avoid the graphic tees and overly trendy looking stuff. Decent quality for the price. |
| Eh, it depends. Watch out for the cute tees that are mostly polyester; my son complained of sweatiness and feeling itchy. Some tees pill and shrink after one wash. Others last years. Some pants, the waist is enormous and not even the tabs keep them up on my son. Others are teensy tiny. But I keep shopping there, because overall the value is there for play clothes. I don't sweat it if an Old Navy tee or pair of socks get trashed. |
| We do a lot of Old Navy. Their online only deals for cargo pants and shorts are the best price wise out there. Lots of good basic tees. I still prefer carter's for jammies and swimwear but for day to day clothes Old Navy seems to offer better deals. |
| I like their clothes and they hold up pretty well. Their pants run long. |
|
Their t-shirts are often poorly made with twisted seams, and they run small/shrink, sometimes only along one direction (so you end up with a short, wide shirt). They are inexpensive, though.
I like their cargo pants the best for boys, and they are one of the few that are long enough and skinny enough for my tall, skinny boy. |

Made by other children?
http://www.ecouterre.com/children-as-young-as-12-are-making-clothing-for-old-navy-in-bangladesh/ Oh - and not great quality. We have a lot because it's cheap and kids run through clothing so quickly. The quality seems pretty low. But I try to buy it used. |
| Thanks so much everyone! Everyone's feedback was very useful. I'll pass on Old Navy. It sounds good for basic clothing worn at home or underneath layers but not for out and about. No wonder the deals are so good, compared to more costly alternatives like Children's Place. |
| Jackets great, pants great, tops aren't good they have poor quality fabric that fades/balls. The pants run 1 size too small. If you go to Baby Gap the shirts in the huge sale/clearance area cost the same and they always have lots of shirts in season. Like $6-ish. |
If you like the quality of Children's Place, I think you will be fine with Old Navy. They are both lower level (IMO)...but fine for kids that will quickly stain or grow out of things. I think ON is cuter that CP. |
Wow, really? That's so funny that you think Children's Place is more expensive, their stuff is dirt cheap and always on sale. I always thought that it was the lowest of low quality. I find Children's Place clothing to be cheap, thin, and falls apart easily. Old Navy is much better. The cotton items are thicker and softer. Also, Old Navy clothes don't shrink as much as Children's Place clothes do. MUCH better quality, and longer lasting. Now Old Navy is not as nice as Tea Collection and Mini Boden but it also costs 15-30% as much. |
What brands do you buy instead, PP? |
Old Navy has free shipping and free returns. Why don't you just buy it, see if you like it, and return what you don't want rather than rely on random internet strangers? |
I do not agree on the pants running long. Their stuff runs on the small side. |
