Have been low-carbing for months and binged on Halloween candy

Anonymous
Have been low-carbing for three months and effortlessly lost all the weight I wanted to (which, granted, wasn't very much, just seven pounds and one clothing size). I was finding it very easy and wasn't craving sweets or anything--but somehow the sight of leftover Halloween candy undid me and I gobbled a ridiculous amount. Anyone BTDT and can tell me what to expect now? Will I start to feel sugar cravings for a week now? Gain five pounds of water weight? I plan to get back to the low-carb tomorrow but am feeling very sick now!

This is why low-carb is unsustainable.

Eat everything in moderation. Restriction causes stupid binges.

Why do people keep posting about stupid fad diets in the sports and fitness forum?

Please it's completely sustainable. If you binge, just go back to business as normal.

That's like saying restricting alcohol is unsustainable because of the occasional binge.

OP, don't stress about it. Just go back to what you were doing. It's pretty hard to wreck your life with one Halloween candy binge.

You'll get back on track.

I'm not following any special food rules right now, and I still binged on Snickers! I love Snickers

Oh, well. It's fine.

Yup. I eat super healthy most of the year. That means no junk food, no processed foods, hardly any alcohol, and very little by way of sweets. I am lower carb than most people, and it's perfectly sustainable.

That said - on all the 'foodie' holidays, my birthday, and any wedding - I throw most rules out the window and binge on alcohol and desserts. I also eat a piece of high quality dark chocolate every day, like Green & Black.

Halloween doesn't bother me in the least bit. Yeah there's Halloween candy everywhere but most of that shit is disgusting, so I have no problem not eating it.

No big deal.

** soapbox **

There are some angry high carbers here, but the fact is that Americans are fat because they eat way too many carbs (well and junk and trans fats). Basically if you're eating cereal for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch, and pasta for dinner - that's too many carbs and you will gain weight. Most people do that and then add sweets + fruits + alcohol on top of that. Yet people wonder why we have a fatness epidemic.

Really -- a high carb diet is just as healthy for some people as a low-carb diet is for others.

How to spot a moron who knows nothing about health or nutrition: they recommend consuming the breastmilk of another species or chicken period/menstruation over blueberries or an apple.

Eat lots of fruit - but don't trust internet fruitcakes, folks.

I did the same thing last night. I don't know why? The candy doesn't even taste that good. Anyway, I have had my fill, and it is a new day.
