What's the problem with using the gender-neutral term racist if that's the behavior you want to call out?

+1. Plus, $10 gets you $1 that pp started the other thread. And she was being so cute, she could only find middle-aged where women acting badly. I guess no white men, or anybody else, ever acted badly on the inter webs.

If you are this upset with white women being called out, then go find the videos of white men and post them. Someone quickly posted about the cyclist in Bethesda.

I’m the OP of the two women thread and not the people you are conversing with.

Your problem is that you can’t fathom that Karen’s are collectively going nuts across the country and being filmed everyday of the week now. I didn’t go searching for those two women, they’re trending twitter. And I’m sure another one will show up on Monday.

Dear troll/Incel member:

LOTS of people are behaving badly around the country. Men are just as bad, if not worse. (Your 2 cherry-picked videos of women prove nothing.) Making this about women makes you a misogynist.

It intimates because middle aged women are no longer sexy, that their use to society is gone and therefore they should shut up and become invisible when they already essentially are.

Young women using this term: Beware. One day, you too will be a Karen. Unless you die young it is your destiny to be a Karen so I would make this term die if I was you.

Agree

I’m not sure. I don’t see 20yos ask to speak to the manager as much as middle-aged women. And I’m middle-aged (41).

I get the sense that 20-somethings (and older people who want to sound with it) have expanded the definition of a Karen, to mean any [usually white] middle-aged lady who inconveniences them at all, for any reason. It’s not just about speaking to the manager or calling the cops.

Pointing out misbehavior and often dangerous tactics (Dog Park Karen) does not make me an incel. By the way I acknowledge men like the Bethesda bicyclist are also problems and I’m glad he was caught. Which is why there’s a giant thread on just him.

I posted some more on that other thread.

Look, lots of people deserve to be called out. But implying that it's just middle-aged white women is ridiculous.

Well if the trending on twitter shoe fits....

Having evidence constantly thrown in your face must suck huh?

This isn't about white women's tears and manipulating police. Amy Cooper is a straight-up racist, and feel free to use a non-gendered term like "racist" to describe her. BTW, I was one of the most frequent posters on the black birder thread, saying Amy Cooper was 100% in the wrong and Christ Cooper was 100% in the right. I'm the poster who sometimes identified myself as a birder, although I didn't mention that every time I posted.

This isn't about anybody, male or female, white or minority, throwing a hissy fit and cursing at store employees. Those aren't Karens--they're straight up jerks. Again, feel free to use a non-gendered term, like "aholes," to describe these people.

This IS about being able to reasonably and appropriately (as someone said above) solve problems by, if necessary and appropriate, talking to someone in charge. Yet some of you think white women of a certain age shouldn't be allowed to do that.

Being a troll with nothing but ad hominems and a tiny number of videos must suck, huh?

Speaking out against sexism is not what the article is referring to.

And no one is saying you can't do that. When it is reasonable and necessary, and in a respectful manner. That y'all can't distinguish when that is and when that is not is not really my concern. Perhaps if enough of you become a Twitter embarrassment, you'll figure it out. For a lot of you, I know this is the first time you've had to examine yourself to this level. I'm sure it's really uncomfortable. You'll be okay, promise.

Except what you consider a ‘problem’ other people consider everyday life. You escalate issues when there is absolutely no need.

In 35 years I’ve talked to a manager maybe TWICE. What happened to common courtesy and a moderate tone when speaking with CSRs?

What are you talking about? Half this thread is telling OP to STFU, based on unverifiable assumptions about her motives, intentions, what she planned to do, and how she planned to do it.

Thanks for the patronizing tone, though. Are you a woman-hating troll?

The article is about how white women wield their white privilege in a way that is different than white men, and in a way that gives them an easy way to deny that is what they are doing. Every woman has a story or two at least about being on the receiving end of this. You're being called out for it now, and you're all throwing a collective hissy fit.

Get off your high horse PP. you’re talking to women. You just don’t like what you’re hearing.

Once more. Plenty of white men do this. Plenty of minorities do this too.

Why pick on just white women? There's ZERO evidence they do this more than any other group.

Signed, I have talked to a manager exactly ONCE in my 58 years.
