Honestly: is 41 too old to have a baby?

Anonymous
Nope, 41 is not too old. It's all about where you are in life. For the people who post about having to take care of children in your 60's, when the child is 20, that child will be half done with college and you'll still be a young 61. The child will be an adult and hopefully if one raises them correctly, dependent shortly after graduating college. Who really has all their children by the time their 30 anyway?? More and more people have children 35+ nowadays.

He is 55 wife 45 so what. His dad babysits and he is 84.

41 is a spring chicken.

His 84 year old dad babysits a newborn?

My 86 year old mother still takes care of my 92 year old father full time and works. She is a realtor, still selling houses and a property manager still managing 35 units for others, and 6 properties that my parents own with a staff of 4 who work exclusively for her taking care of her properties. She's decided she finally wants to retire but all of her property customers want her to sell their units. She figures at about 8-10 a year, it will be about 5 years before she can retire.

And my mother babysat her twin infant grandchildren when she was 80.

Op, if you're out there: Did you wind up having another baby?

Bump.

i had me youngest at 40. Its not been hard raising him but I have to be careful about my health. The other moms of my son's classmates are only a few years junior to me but not in a very good shape. They had their kids in their 30s so not very much younger than me. Healthwise I have given up sugar, junk food, juice, alcohol, soda and fast food - a number of years ago. I am also naturally thin.

My capacity to recover after a late night is not there any more. I can not dance the night away. But, I am a more laid back and confident mom. I have done the hs and college rodeo before so I am very chilled out. I also have outsourced more things at home after the youngest was born.

No 40 is not too old to have a baby if you are in relatively good health and prioritize your health. You have to maintain your body so that you can function well for the next 25-30 years for your child.

Don't look at time stamps, much, do you? The posting about leasing cars was written last night. The posting here was written on my lunch hour today.

More backup. Don't see much of a difference having a kid at 34-35 and 41; not if your healthy.
