Trump admin ADMITS wrongful deportation

UC Berkeley grad student here. Several students from our campus have had their visas revoked. Things here have been chaotic.

Being a rabble-rouser myself, I think the only reason I'm safe is that I'm a citizen. You can't deport citizens, that's Government 101.

They may try to put U.S. citizens in death camps eventually, but they can't deport us from our own land.

Trump voters demand accountability for every single criminal.

What about accountability for trump? When will his voters demand that he follow the law? What about J6? Where was the accountability there?

If that government (read "President") believes itself to be confined by the constitution and federal laws. But this government (read "President") seems to believe it is bound only by what it/he considers to be boundaries. Those are few indeed.

Carry an apostilled birth certificate or naturalization papers with you everywhere to avoid waking up in El Salvador after a "clerical error"deprived you of the right to challenge the government's assertion you are MS-13.

Yep. I wouldn’t be doing any rabble rousing without at least my U.S. passport on me.

Same at Fordham University. One student and multiple professors. I believe they were reentering the border when returning from spring break. Students and faculty are advised to have multiple campus security#s on speed dial. Yell for someone to dial 911. Say nothing. Don’t surrender devices. Password lock only. No fingerprint or facial recognition unlock.

Immediately following the Supreme Court opinion, aliens refiled in Texas (and New York) and have been granted TROs.

Not sure what you are getting at? We all want accountability for criminals.

We just want our guaranteed due process to make sure innocent people don't get imprisoned. That is not too much to ask. You are un-American if you think it is.

I think the government is going to come to regret this. They can easily do removals thru the normal immigration process where the due process is a total joke: judges all work for the AG, almost no one has a lawyer, they do mass hearings, minimal evidence needed, etc. Now they are going to end up in habeas cases in front of a real federal judge for each individual case. It’s going to take months to actually remove anyone.

does this only affect future removals? what is the impact on the people who have already been deported to El Salvador?

What do you think?

Before 1/20/25, I would have agreed but now who knows?
