Not all clubs and leagues are equal. Not all teams are equal. The commitment data is tracked and easily findable on Twitter/X. Please stop pretending that the level of your DD’s team, club, and league don’t affect college and professional exposure. They 100% do and everybody knows that. It isn’t an argument. Are you the person saying the GA hasn’t weakened by losing most of their best clubs over the past years? For example, you have a much better chance of getting to the college you want by playing for VAR 08 rather than TSJ or SYC. VAR staff has connections and it’s a good team. Do you think every school goes to see every kid that emails them? Not every school even attends the GA events. I’m a GA parent but I live in reality. |
The top GA clubs are getting the same visibility as the top ECNL clubs. |
The college commitments and professional contracts bring signed say otherwise. |
The only clubs with more visibility than other is SD Surf, Solar, Hawks, SLSG. Idk what point you are trying to make. |
Your logic is backwards. The so called "top" clubs don't have more commitments because they are better or more connected, but because they recruited better players to join their teams. Those same players would have been able to get equivalent commitments if they had been on a less winning ECNL or GA club's team. It's a marketing ploy by clubs because they know there are parents like you who think you need be on a winning team to get exposure, and the evidence they use is a result of the very marketing they are doing. Good players who market themselves and have good grades are the ones who get where they want to go. Clubs fall over themselves to recruit these players because they are valuable marketing tools. Players get commitments. Not clubs or teams. |
I live right by SD Surf. It's much more than recruiting the top players. Surf leadership is also 100% focused on getting their players onto the top college teams in the nation. Surf has connections into every top team. It's just how they work. It wouldn't matter if Surf played in GA ECNL or NPL they'd still be successful and they'd still place into the top college programs. |
We're kind of saying the same thing. How well would SD Surf continue to do if they weren't able to recruit the top players? If all of their players up and left to another club in SD you'd see a drop off in their placements. Certainly there are economies of scale at work and success brings more players which brings more success. But it all ends if the players stop coming. |
The list is longer than that. The point is that league, club, and team all matter. You’re probably one of those people that think development stops in high school. Players stop getting better unless they have a personal trainer. |
Only a select # of ecnl clubs could survive if they had GA. kudos to the GA programs that have still maintained top clubs in the country. That is exactly how you would test out the strength of a club. Do you think Arlington would survive if they went GA? No. All their players would flood to the next closest ECNL club. So for the NEFCs, City SCs, TopHats to still be top soccer programs while not in ECNL, tells you a lot about their programs. |
Believe it or not but most Surf players are from Socal. While it is true that Surf can recruit from anywhere they do develop from within and locally. It does get annoying sometimes when you see what Surf is able to do for their players. Most clubs don't have the resources or ability to provide this. Here's an example Surf as a club all coach train and play the same way. Results aren't specific to a certain coach because they're all doing the same things. The result is a consistent output and player development. At my kids club coaching is all over the place which results in ups and downs for different teams. |
This is DC Urban Mom. |
You’re saying that all clubs get equal exposure outside of those 5 clubs? |
Believe it or not? Why is it hard to believe? There are 25 million people in Southern California. |
yeah not hard to believe at all. imagine being able to pull from all the best players in DMV + Philly + Charlotte all to one club. It’s not some magic sauce. its numbers |
Don’t know how many times can we answer this same question? They all get sufficient exposure. Not equal but more than enough. After a certain level of exposure the additional doesn’t matter. |
