Sorry but this is a weak take. Basketball was in the finals last year, soccer won finals this year, football was in finals last night. Plenty of families still want to commute to I St. Lax may never be as good as the Oneill years but they are a young team this year and have to replace a strong fogo and goalie

SJC should win it all but otherwise it's a crapshoot for who plays them in the finals. Talent in the DMV is down in general across the board.

You're gonna try to equate a minority, all scholarship hoops and football team with an all suburb roster like lacrosse? Soccer, really? Gonzaga has a nice team but the WCAC is not a soccer conference evidenced by the Heights being near the top. Then you say they'll never be as good as under O'Neill. Yeah, that's the point. They've dropped because good club players from the suburbs don't want to play for a coach who can't show up to practice until he's done with his day job and then have to commute home from crime ridden dc in the dark. Gonzaga making it to the finals this year will be the equivalent of SMR doing it last year.

I could be wrong but didn't Gonzaga win the WCAC in 2023...let me check my notes. Oh, they did. Now, it is a young team this year and might not be as good as past years but they'll still be good.

Umm no. 2023 final was SJ over PVI

GZ won the tourney in 2024. That team had 23 current or future college lacrosse players. The 2025 team had 14 and lost in the semi's. The current squad has 6 and I don't think the 28's will make up 8 players. There's a clear absence of interest in attending GZ for lacrosse.

If speaks can’t get it done this year with the amount of resources military road is pouring into its lax program, he should step down.

GZ - nothing in the 2028-2030 pipeline showing that fogo and goalie will be replaced. offense might have some life from the young 2028-2029's.

Post-fall guesses

1. SJC. Way too many commits to think lower
2. Prep. They have a complete team
3. Landon. Gonna miss 70% at fogo
4. Bullis. Thin but talent remains
5. PVI. one last try for the 26’s before collapse
6. GC. Super selfish seniors
7. Gonzaga. Historical respect but a new direction needed
8. STA. good goalie and poles and fo and zero offense.
9. Heights. Such a weak schedule
10. Dematha. The 25’s are gone.
HM Langley has some offense, Yorktown has a 5 star, Urbana has a program. Maybe a public breaks in this year.

These rankings look good. I know DeMatha graduated a ton from last year's squad. Are they really expected to drop off that much in one year? Is Gonzaga expected to have a sub-par season?

I have a middle school kid here in Loudoun and it is kind of upsetting to hear about PVI. I thought they had some pretty good 27s and 28s?

“You’re gonna to try to equate a minority, all scholarship hoops and football team with an all suburb roster like lacrosse?”

Your bias is showing.

There are some solid '28s at PVI including a few who play for DC Express, MadLax, and maybe NL/Team 91 Maryland. Their incoming '29s include 4-5 kids who were playing for True Chesapeake as well as a couple goalies from NL or ML. Heard the former coach didn't recruit '27s (he was the head coach for maybe a year or two and then was replaced by the current coach) but they do have a 3 star in that class. So, if you live in Loudoun, I would think it is worth checking it out unless you want to drive a ton.

What "resources" is military road pouring into its lax program? The program is talented because speaks recruited well. you are talking about punishing him for that?

The following year after 26s graduate will be a tough year, but plenty of young talent in the pipeline for the future.

The Cadets program offer more financial aid to prospective families than any program in the area by a good margin.

Speaks had early success, the program has not performed to its expectations the past 2 seasons.

I’d have the same lists except I’d have Heights No. 5 in the WCAC
