Bracelets at work - Unprofessional

Anonymous
Am I being nitpicky or is this unprofessional? My officemate wears charm bracelets everyday and it bangs against her desk all day long. It's really distracting and annoying to hear the clanging all day long.

It's not unprofessional but it could be annoying. Either tell her or suck it up.

I would say something to the boss. Bracelets aren't unprofessional, but making noise constantly like that is. Charm bracelets are meant to make a jinly noise.

Sorry OP but you don't have a leg to stand on in this instance. I can imagine what it sounds like but nothing you can do other than transfer to another dept.

I think OP does have a case. It's like if a coworker was constantly clipping their nails or playing a radio.

LOL! "Boss, Larla's bracelets are too louddddd!!!" I can't.

Start wearing them yourself. Really it's the only way that hers won't bother you. Not charm bracelets, but stack up a set of loose bracelets. Try TJMaxx near Tysons.

There certainly are a lot of delicate flowers here, aren't there?

You'd better hope the boss doesn't speak Pandora.

You have clearly built this up to be a BIG TRANSGRESSION in your mind and I bet your coworker doesn't even realize she's doing it.

Let's ban high heels in the office too, because I hate hearing the "Tap tap tap tap" as they walk by every time and serve no real purpose in being a productive worker.

I would hate that too, OP. I once had an office mate who clipped his fingernails at his desk. Talk about annoying.

well-made men's shoes make noise, too. i get that a lot of dc men wear rubber-soled shoes to the office (ew), but if a guy is wearing pricey shoes, they're noisy. all men should wear merrells to work. end all noise!

OP here. I don't think it's a huge transgression, but I don't think it's appropriate. The person that compared it to someone listening to music without headphones is spot on. I just don't think it's courteous to other employees.

OP your co-worker probably doesn't notice the noise. If it's distracting, is there any reason you couldn't mention it to her?
